If a girl is mature enough to handle the possibility of a baby, even if protection is used, I think a girl is ready for sex. I don't really think it's about the age. It's all about the maturity. "Undermatured sex is now illegal" lol.

 

Guys, I have one word for you. Masturbation, there is no need for you to have sex under the age of sixteen when you can masturbate. I know it's not as good as the real thing, but you start having sex, soon you've got a crying baby to deal with.

Conceptions don't always work, condoms break and the pill is unavaliable or just doesn't seem to work.

I think underage sex should stay illegal because the fact is that if it were legal, the pedophiles would have a field day. Children can be easily manipulated and I don't think legal pedophilia is something anyone (except the pedophiles themselves) would really approve of.

However, I think the punishment for sex between two consenting minors should be minimal. If it's a 14 year old and a 16 year old, same deal. I sure as hell wouldn't approve of it, but I don't think that the 16 year old should be charged with statutory rape.

Well it is not that they are idiots, it is hard to assume the "mature" level. Like a 9 year old girl could say she is mature enough, but is she really? It is hard to enforce a "maturity law" when you cannot judge if they really were ready. I agree that if a girl/guy thinks they are mature enough it should be ok, but there should be some age limit to ensure that they really are mature enough. Maybe 12? 13? 14? Since by then your old enough to understand the consequences and how to care for something. But i think that SOME age needs to be enforced, since we can never really enforce maturity.
