    Chewing vs. Smoking

Note: It's come to my attention that some people on this forum are (edit # 2: FUCKING) retarded, so I guess I have to make this clear. I am talking about CHEWING TOBACCO, not gum. Thank you.

Which do you think is better?

    Things to think about:
    Health problems (self)
    Health problems (others)
    Appearance
    Smell
    Cost
    etc..

I think personally, if you have to do one or the other you should chew.
It is MUCH cheaper, considering that a heavy chewer will chew a can every day, and a can of Grizzly is only ~2.79, while a pack of cigarettes is ~5.00 and a heavy smoker will smoke upwards of 2 packs a day.

    2.79 vs 10.00

Both are dangerous to your health, and both are just as addictive. Some argue that chewing is a higher risk for getting cancer, and it probably is, but not by too much. As far as health for others is concerned, chewing doesn't harm those around you, smoking does.

Of course people see people who chew as "gross" but why? If you smell somebody's breath after they chew it usually smells like mint or wintergreen depending on the flavor of the chew. However, if you smell a smokers breath.. well you know. Its disgusting.

Sure, you can get hairy tongue from chewing, but that takes a few years of heavy dipping. If you smoke cigarettes your teeth turn yellow after a few months to a year of smoking.

    Thats my views, share yours.

I used to chew, I don't any more. I used to smoke, I don't any more.

    This is an unbiased opinion.

    Chewing vs. Smoking

chewing by far does not effect our insides like smoking.
chewing only contains small amounts of sugars.
    like hubba bubba ..
gum like EXTRA .. isnt bad for you.
    chewing is harmless.
    smoking kills.

You are mistaken, chewing is NOT harmless.

Go read about it on wikipedia or something. It is not at all harmless.

Alright well in my opinion smoking is alot worse for you
mainly because more of it goes to your lungs then chew.
But chewing to me is a more filthy/disgusting habit than smoking.

How is it disgusting? Sure, if tastes bad to the user.. but it doesn't affect anybody BUT the user, and the taste goes out of your mouth after about 5 minutes, less if you chew gum or drink something..

Because its gross to see someone spit black liquid out of their mouths
into a cup or onto a floor, its rude and gross. I think smoking is worse
but chew is filthier and more disgusting.

    Chewing vs. Smoking

Most people spit into an old soda bottle, not onto the floor. Chewing is much more discreet, and much less rude in a public place. Would you rather somebody occasionally spit into a bottle next to you, or light up a smoke?

haha, sorry i misunderstood. in Australia we dont have grizzly or whatever. so i just thought you were talking about another american product.

Smoking i think is more harmful. mostly because of the advertisements on TV and how more people smoke where i live then chew. I just can't see chewing being more worse then smoking

    Chewing vs. Smoking

Eh, I don't know which one is worth, and to be honest I don't really care. I've tried chew twice, and I smoke every day. The first time I tried chew it was ridiculously uncomfortable, and i spit it out after a couple of minutes. All I was left with was a slight buzz. The second time, I must have swallowed some of the juice, because I had a small buzz as well as horrible nausea. I'll stick with smoking.

    Chewing vs. Smoking

Well depends how you look at it. I would honestly prefer neither (never smoked and never will same for chewing) but I think chewing would be worse just because lung cancer takes a while to get while smoking chewing on the other hand takes about half as long. and has more quick effects but when you smoke you effect others so I don't really know I am kinda on the fence.

p.s. if you can't understand why people think chewing is gross... then I don't know about you.

    1. constantly spitting (which people dislike)
    2. when you spit it's always a dark nasty color (also sick)
    3. a hariy tounge (think you need to be at a carnival sideshow.)
