[General Discussion] RuneScape Mobile's effect on RSGP prices

Let's assume RuneScape mobile goes 100% public(non-beta) for both Android and iOS and goes trending to almost like PokemonGO levels. What do you think will be the effect on RSGP prices? If you think it would rise, how far?

 

I don't think it'll ever go to like PokemonGO levels, not even close. Firstly, OSRS isn't a new game. Secondly, OSRS isn't designed for mobile.

I think RSGP will rise a bit, but not by a lot.

 

It won't even get close to PokemonGO level, theres not enough hype built around it.
Runescape isn't too user-friendly, the average person who doesn't game isn't going to play runescape.

 

OSRS is only worthwhile if you're a member. I'm not sure many people would pay the monthly subscription to play this game when they have free games such as Fortnite.

It could bring back some old players for nostalgia, but not sure on a sizeable market capture of the mobile game industry. Who knows though, it's all about timing.

 

Idk i think it will have an impact on playerbase for sure, every ther game on iphone is just complete trash typical 2d candy crush shit. something like runescape is gonna blow these kids minds on mobile, + people on mobile are the biggest micro transaction people to ever grace this earth.

 

If it was marketed correctly then sure, it’s been a fuck around ever since announcement. It would of came off better to the public if they just surprised released it at let word of mouth do the rest

 

It's not a "simple" game like the other mobiles where you can just pick it up and play effectively. To play RS effectively, you need some sort of knowledge on the game or ability to follow guides.

I just don't see how this can "blow these kids minds" when you have to pay to play (members only thing worth it), plus there are no microtransactions going on in OSRS. Only people that will use it will be current members or players looking to get some nostalgia out of it.

 

To play rs is in credibly simple I used to play when I was like 6, not everyone is who picks it up is gonna be 3 tick skilling. they are gonna enjoy their noob experience as we all did.

 

People who are interested in rpg games and mobile games in general will play simply because it will be literally the best and only option for such an interactive game on a mobile device.

I don't think it will affect gold prices much. It would jump a little with new players, but correct itself soon. The value of gp has been in decline for a while and it will continue to do so. If you can get cheap now and sell at the right time -- good for you. Is it worth the risk, tho? Probably not, there are better ways of investing.

Pretty much the only people who are/will be interested in RS mobile are those who already play. I can't see it affecting too much

 

Well hopefully it would at least reach the sort of "top new games" categories of both playstore and appstore if it gains traction from the old school players

 

i think it will boost the prices a bit, hopefully
