Dying happy v leading a full life

Something that has been on my mind lately. The past few months or so, where I'd juggle this concept around in my mind. Let's say for instance a gamer (competitive or non competitive) plays video games all the time, and has a mediocre social life, has a job, etc... and dies within that lifestyle, versus someone who travels often, has a great social life, a great career and whatnot and leaves this world within that lifestyle.

Did both individuals die happy AND leading a full life? And I guess to tie it in, are those concepts both one in the same or are they completely different? Is leading a full life, or even being happy for that matter subject to one's individual view or is there an overall belief on what both are?

I appreciate all opinions on this matter. It almost applies to my life as well :)

    Just depends i guess.
If the gamer died doing what he loved to do and traveling wasn't something he wanted to do then he's dying happy.

I mean logically speaking living a happy life is just calculating dopamine/hr across a lifetime. Some people irrationally want to sacrifice their dopamine to make a legacy for their dead carcass, and that's okay too, however futile.

I say it's a game of convincing yourself you're happy, or convincing yourself that you're meaningful. If you can't do either you're just wasting your time.

Dying happy v leading a full life

I will skip the happy part for now, but leading a full life is up for opinion, the person could have lived a life where their parents hated their life choices, and the person used the choice as an out, to try to make themselves happy, whether they were actually happy or not is also up for debate. In other cases, the person chooses their life, they receive support from family and friends, and are genuinely happy with what they are doing in life. I think leading a full life is a moral joke to be honest, we all live a life, we all die, so what makes our lives worth anything if we know we all die at some point anyways? You should weigh your happiness on how you value your time, and if that value of time is actually making you emotionally happy. Persay, someone decides they want to go on a date with someone, and they don't enjoy it, but the other person asks for another date, and you being the nice person say yes, you then aren't enjoying yourself anymore. We all make dull and strong decisions that make us who we are.
TL;DR We are who we are, and if we lose what we had, then so be it, does it really matter?

Happiness is subjective, for example if playing Runescape gives you 8/10 happiness and travelling with friends gives you 5/10 why shouldn't you pick what makes you happier. I know that its not this simple and yes you should experience everything because how else are you going to decide what is going to make you happy. In my opinion balance and perspective is key.

Life is short and meaningless. However, if I was to only think in the moment, and chose what makes me happy at that exact time I'd just sit in bed, watch netflix and eat bacon sandwiches. However I understand that this isn't sustainable for me.

You may be happy gaming at this moment, sure, it's fun. But do you want to be doing this when you are 40 years old? Surely not.

It's about striking a balance between what makes you happy right now, in this moment. But also investing time into your future, to secure future happyness. Have part of your day outside of your comfort zone and try new things.

This way you can be happy right now, and reduce the possibility of missing new opportunities.

Happiness is achieved through a persons choices. At some point in life, responsibility may outweigh the pursuit of happiness.

I would say it's definitely up to one's subjective view of a "fulfilling life". However, societal constraints often make us think that we have to achieve some sort of greatness to have a "fulfilling/successful life". To me, as long as you are happy with what you are doing in life then that is all that matters. (Or maybe I say that to comfort myself cause I'm more of the antisocial gamer you speak of >.<)

Why would you even consider dying in any state?) There are so many different things in life that make it so...unique? A whole bunch of feelings to experience, many choices to make and countless social links to make! These things make living so exciting! Each day there is something new waiting for you. Well, of course, there are bad things as well, but what is hapiness without sorrow?

It's clearly subjective. I'm an extremely materialistic person, so my whole life I've worked towards being financially successful. In turn, my stress has decreased as my finances are able to support things I enjoy doing. Being happy is just relevant to the person who feels the emotion. I've spent time on the Eastern seaboard of Asia, where poverty strikes everyone, but I feel as though most people there were happier than any of us providing humanitarian aid. It's really an emotional experience watching peoples faces light up over something as simple as bottled water.

Tldr: Do what makes you happy, when you find what does, don't stop doing it. Everyone's happiness is not the same as yours.

Not to be incredibly depressing, but when you feel your consciousness start to slip away into nothingness, is there any chance you'd have a change of heart (of any kind)?
