[DENIED] Lets start using the Vouch forum properly and stop the bumping loophole?

Seller always could choose where he wants his vouch, he could have it on his thread, he could have it on his vouch thread, he could have it on both.
It was like 1-2 years ago

Not sure if this is possible, but how about changing the market forum in a way that prevents new posts from actually bumping the thread?

Only the "bump" button would actually bump the thread. This way we can fix the loophole in this rule and the gold sellers can have their vouches on their threads. @SellerMan

 

Yes that's pretty much FlyingToast's idea and may well be the best solution that benefits all

 

That's IF it's really about "just having the vouches on the threads", which we all know it's not. They just don't want to lose business.

 

I have mixed feelings about this, beeing a seller myself. I find the vouch section almost useless. it serves as a way of storing your good reputation, but, everything is manual which is indeed non sensical. What I propose would take alot of Dev Time and probably wouldnt be feasible, But I feel it is the right way, a middle ground, If you're a great seller with awesome reputation you should be up there based on real reputation. Recently I was browsing one of the forums I use, they implemented a system in which you have a "business" reputation in your profile, the system works in a way in which you supply the person you're trading a link for the trade you are doing, it creates information sort of speak. This would be beneficial in alot of ways, Trades and scams, would be easier to handle when mods have some information regarding the trade, at the end of the trade, people can give the reputation which will go directly to the user, per se, this would also help as a way of pming people, cause you'll get an unique link confirming the trade making it of course easier no more "copy paste my Discord ID etc etc. So the catch would be, people who get alot of reputation could get like tokens, sythe gold or whatever you may use to bump your thread before time. So it would be more balanced, cause right now, we have alot of sellers that just go to Any big company, sell them 50-100m and bump their threads every hour. Thats my proposal which will of course get denied cause it takes alot of time/money to implement

I mean, I want more simplicity, it is a free market in the end just want things to be automatic, Imposter Proof, easier to handle etc, and also reward people who are legit or offer a good service.

I have experienced offsite systems similar to some of your ideas. What you propose would not only change the spammy "vouch bumps" but also would change/replace the vouch section, which would unfortunately be problematic to implement. Converting old vouch pages to the new system, are archiving the vouch section and switching to the new system would not be that beneficial also.

As for the discord ID's etc and the risks of imposters/scams that come with it, discord is like skype in the fact that unfortunately there will always be imposters/scammers and the best course of action is just to have the best preventative measures as a merchant. Such as, detailed PM confirmations and well formatted market forum topics.

Yeah the deterrent is how hard would be this be to implement. I just find the vouch pages section kinda useless, and I do believe as Searchy Said, that it is beneficial to users trying to buy gold or sell gold, to see the vouches on the thread as they can see the time stamps, and they can see they are working are legit at the time etc etc, I always worry is about the safety of people, a safer market is a better market which more people around, all I hear from other forums is "Sythe is filled with scammers" which is not too far from the truth there's alot of people who take advantage of fake vouching, Alot of people imposting users (I do believe creating an unique link for a trade containing the pertinent information of it would make imposters way hard to find a victim, My proposal would change some aspects which are unorthodox to use by today standards.

to summarize: I wouldnt change the way it is at the moment unless we improve vouches/trading standards.

 

I guess I can say I support this because it would just organize comments on the site but having the thread bumped by vouches could show that the thread (shop) is active. Putting this rule would definitely put everyone on a even-field and utilize the bump system more.

 

Is it possible to get a couple more mods input on this subject? Already seen a bunch, but it hasn't been concluded whether or not this is up for debate still, so @Gen @Hahanerd @Island @Killswitch @King if any of you want to throw your opinions about the subject would be cool. As well as any other mod who wants to re-represent their information or help get this thread an answer would be great. I still believe that this shouldn't be allowed, and the best thing to come of this so far was the suggestion about using the bump button as the only way to actually move a thread throughout the section.

 

Just to add. I am fine with being patient if this is being discussed, so everyone please take your time thinking about whether you support or not. Please also vote in the Poll. I noticed a couple of people haven't but so far it's a pretty accurate representation as only a couple haven't voted.

 

True to some extent, however the suggestion is more so centered on the bumping loophole.

What FlyingToast has proposed would probably be a solution that keeps both sides of this debate happy, as it would still let vendors spam their threads full of vouches if they wish, but it would not be used as a bumping loophole which it currently is through the act of bribing newcomers and even offsite traffic.

 

Not sure if @Sythe will want to bring in a rule that gives incentive to offsite users joining + registering on sythe.org

 

He would not, it is on the DNS list for users to be required to register, so I can guarantee that isn't in his interest.

 

im going to be real honest here. I personally think the vouch forums are underused/outdated. The 'loophole' technically isn't considered a vouch, its just feedback. feedback that is attention grabbing, bumps, and works out great for the sellers. Feedback can consist of positive or negative responses that users might want others to see [on the thread] to persuade others about their experience. although vouches are definite good/bad trading experience responses directly to the trader and not the specific thread, it seems like it is used less frequently. feedback on threads IMO should not be considered a vouches for those reasons but that's just how I perceive the experience.


so short answer, I believe it doesn't really matter. I just believe that only vouches in the vouches forums should be the only ones counted in headers and whatnot. the other stuff is a really big stretch to be considered a vouch.

 

The problem then is sellers quote the bump vouches on their gold topics in their vouch topics, so that would be very difficult to moderate which counts and which does not.

 

Pretty much this, but we all know they still won't be happy. Big traders will still want to have their constant hourly bumps from customers's vouches, that is the biggest benefit, whether they want to admit it or not.
