Discord dangerous

Today I got added by the real @Realist in discord with is Realist@1834. I message him back asking if he needed something. http://prntscr.com/jlbk48 the real realist and he never message me back. but an impostor message me back http://prntscr.com/jlbh8a.

Might I know how this 2 people have the same discord user name? this its a big loophole and I would recommend everyone to stop using discord to avoid scam.

I didn't get scammed just giving a warning to those new people using discord because ya can get scammed easily like this.

@Realist might I know why you added me? because the first thing that came into my mind is that big gold seller can use this to their advantage and scam people and get away with it easily.

anyone else have something in mind of this loophole?

I fell for this, Did not ask for a Sythe PM, because Discord was same as advertised. aribagold I believe. Lost roughly 85M osrs because of it.

Being scammed by a Discord impostor is easily avoidable. You just can't be ignorant and not stay up to date with new scamming methods. I don't accept anyone on Discord without PM them first. A good way to confirm it's the actual user is by having them message you a keyword on Discord that you provide in Sythe PM.

 

Whoever was using the fake account probably also messaged Realist from another account and got him to message you.

The ID's are case sensitive but I do know there is an exploit at the moment which scammers are using to bruteforce clone discord ID's

I'd highly recommend sticking to website live chat channels such as on his gold site realistgold.com. That way you know you are talking to the actual Realist, and not an imposter.

 

Yo look, I verified everything. Even verified Ingame name.

 

He could've already known the IGN unlike if you said when you PM the Sythe account "Say Keyword over Discord when you add me to confirm it's you - D#nT$aDGFscammED45S." This method has worked so me so far.

 

Lmfao, that doesn't matter because two chats were created.

 

As in I can have you added previously on discord and send you a message and both participants (Legit user + impostor) receive the message and both receive both replies? I might've thought about it wrong.

If not -

I don't accept random discord requests without PM the member over Sythe first. I provide a keyword and I won't even reply or add them without them providing the keyword I sent over Sythe.

 

i wouldnt trust discord with a bag of chimps, might be the wrong tag and gg, gone

 

keyword wont do anything. that can easily be abused by scammers and it it currently is (man in the middle scams)


always get a PM confirmation which includes both ID's and chat logs. you need to thoroughly match the ids and confirm they are right as well as the chat and timestamps.
