What can the members of Sythe do to help the community turn around?

As of right now, the community seems to be leaning towards the toxic side due to the fact of new members jumping on a bandwagon that really doesn't need to exist. I don't know what type of a reform we can do to attempt to fix the issue, so I ask, if you agree with the statement I'm making, how can we attempt to resolve it, or counter me and say how the site is doing perfectly fine community wise.
Tl;Dr Where does the community stand, if it needs work how do we fix it, if not then counter that point.
Also this doesn't include just normal banter, that is for the keks and we all enjoy some of it.

 

Get rid of their DNTs.

Community is just fine IMO.

But also, Sythe used to be a lot less lenient in the past, regarding scammers. Most of time now, when I see somebody who has scammed and been reported, the most they get is a DNT/NMU, and quite honestly should be banned straight up if they are found guilty.

In every community, you will get decent people, or toxic people. You can't have one without the other.

I guess start with cleaning up the DNT'S and potential scammers, who are still able to have threads available for people to read, and add them on 3rd party clients such as Discord, leading to a scam.

 

I've said this from day 1, having DNT users being able to integrate into a primarily trading focused community when they have no intent to ever make amends doesn't build a welcoming community. It's still one of the main reasons why I have no interest in being part of the community side of the site, along with how much of a shitfest the Discord server is 90% of the time. There are positives to it and there are good parts of the community, I just think they're stifled by some of the DNT userbase that abuse the current system, eg Karl.

Not that I disagree with either of you, but if DNT didn't exist this question wouldn't even have been asked, and who knows maybe I should be banned or w.e, but is there something else that can be done besides this? I don't think it stems from DNT's they might contribute, but there has to be some sort of contributing factor

 

nothing... scammers will come and go and people would rather pay less for non reputable users and not pay more using reputable users like my self for services and end up getting scammed its the circle of life sadly..

 

Scammers aren't really a part of the community, i'm talking about people like you and me who respond to threads and such, I am fully aware that the circle of life for scammers is terrible.

 

Toxic people tend to stay in discord and spam forums so if you don’t like that just stay out? You can’t do anything to stop people from being toxic if you try to change spam forum and discord people are just going to leave. Personally think the community is fine.

I’m just telling you toxic people tend to stay in spam forums I don’t really see anyone being toxic anywhere else? There are already rules set in place to punish those who are toxic out of spam forums. I seriously doubt anything can be done to change the current community and I feel like it’s fine the way everyone currently is.

 

Your op said the community is leaning towards the toxic side, if this has nothing to do with the spam forum where are people being toxic without punishment? Toxicity and the spam forum go hand in hand, I only ever see it in there. I don’t want any new rules imposed in the discord as it’ll only hinder activity, everything’s fine as is.

 

I think the community will always be toxic in a way. I feel as the RuneScape community (assuming that is where the majority of Sythe users are from) is pretty toxic at a whole and I don't foresee that changing any time soon.

I've only been on the Sythe Discord about 1 week at the time I've posted this. In my time I've found that it can be pretty toxic at times. If reforming the community is something that is being considered I suggest starting with Discord servers, however this will likely decrease the activity. It comes down to what you value as important. An active player base or trying to reform an underground community?

Also like @DesireX mentioned, I haven't seen much toxicity outside of Spam forums.

 

What bandwagon?

On another note, there are literally just a few people that make us look like shit, every single time they come back around. I'm not going to name names, but you probably know who I'm talking about.

 

problem = rs community is toxic ( dont think so ? go do a torso at barbarian assault or anything that requires more than 1 person and some team effort, you will come accross very innovative insults )
sythe's major community = rs community
solution = move to minecraft

 

Sythe has always been like this. You just see it more often as we have less users now than before, it doesn't quite "cover" it up anymore. New members joining are mostly evaders aswell so that doesn't help the case either. You NEED fresh blood
