    Decision Time

Well, recently I have been faced with some, spectacular but tough, news. I'm in a small dilemma and figured to just check out what the members thought. I recently got accepted to the following colleges:
    • Dartmouth College
    • Brown University
    • Arizona State University ($26,200 scholarship)
    • University of Massachusetts ($19,800 scholarship)
    • Bucknell University
    • Gettysburg College ($16,500 scholarship)
Now, sports has aided me very much for all of these colleges, but now I don't know where to go. Originally I had verbally committed to Arizona State University, but now all the above colleges have shown a great interest in me. Now you should know, i'm going mainly for the academics and secondarily for the sports. If you were wondering i'm a two sport athlete (lacrosse and football), it would be great if I could get some advice from the more knowledgeable members. This won't make my decision for me, but its just a small thing I can use to aid me in my decision.
These are all verbal agreements and Dartmouth and Brown aren't 100% positive.

For next year, sorry I should have stated that. I've already worked out deals with every school and now i'm going to take the next 6 months to decide. I am definitely going early decision to the school I choose. With sports deals come out earlier because of the recruitment process.

I just want to go to a liberal arts college and keep my major undecided until 2nd semester of sophomore year, due to the fact that I don't know what my favorite field is.

I know someone that went to Dartmouth, they had to write a 50 page paper on the spread of aids in africa. For Calculus.

you don't need Ivy league for your undergrad.

Honestly if I were you, I would go to UMass. Much bigger school and sports are much bigger there. Plus you get scholarship money. I wouldn't go to an ivy league because kids there are really competitive, for instance they find books in the library and hide them so other kids from their class can't get the information. And girls at state universities are much better.

It depends on what your values are. If you care more about education, then go to Dartmouth or Brown. But if you care the same about education and sports and having a good time, go to a public. Plus public is cheaper so you won't get out of school with debt.

I think you should go to Arizona or just wait to find out what you want to go for and to make sure that the collage you choose definitely offers it and there is room.

You bring up a great point, but its not just the school, its the contacts you meet there. Also if I went to apply for a job and stated I attended or am alumni at Dartmouth, they would put me atop the most qualified for the job.

Yes, your right, but i'm not just in it for the sports. I really liked UMass and I will take your points and preferences and incorporate them in my decision.

They are all liberal arts colleges and in almost every college you don't need to declare your major until the 2nd or 3rd semester of your sophomore year.

If you read, I stated football and lacrosse. Also the scholarships are listed next to the schools. But I did get one full ride to Sacred Heart University, but I don't think I'd ever go there.

You are getting recruited to D1 schools in football and lacrosse, and somehow you are roaming around on a Runescape cheating forum lol.

None of those teams are D1. At ASU I am being recruited for lacrosse and they really aren't that good thats why i'm looking there. All the other teams are D1 A or D1 AA, not even close to the same level as D1. When I choose my college and get more letters I can post some pictures and such, I will keep updates so you guys can see. g

Also let me just inform you its not just football that I have it is also scholastics. I have about a 3.8 GPA unweighted and a 31 on the ACT test. So football is just one of the reasons I am being taken by these schools. The scholarship at ASU is 1/3 athletics and 2/3 academic. Also have a look at Steph she is attending, next year, debatablely the toughest university to get into, I mean these schools aren't really comparable to Columbia other than Dartmouth and Brown, which i'm not even sure if they will accept me yet, I just know they are showing interest and have claimed they will accept me. Remember all the above acceptances are only verbal deals.

    Navy.

Military is the best place to go to make these kind of decisions in life! They'll get you a job close to what you want, you learn that, and they pay for college. Why fuck around with it else where?

What I meant is, it seems kind of odd to me that you are good at football and lacrosse, you get good grades and you still have the time to go on a Runescape cheating forum.

Really, I heard it wasn't as nice either. If you know a little bit about it, I would appreciate if you elaborated more on it. I'm going to be visiting it in late Jube, hopefully.

I guess I get to join that minority then? I don't do much in my spare time aside from workout, and I enjoy writing the guides on working out and such. Also every now and then a little debate can go a long way. Also high school football is over now for about 5 months, so its not during the season and thats how I find time. Also I am not playing lacrosse this year because ASU is my only school for lacrosse and they know how I play already, i don't want to risk injury. All my sports skills come naturally, so i'm not out there practicing that often.
