    Fate or Coincidence?

This topic is for discussing if it is pure fate that determines our life, or a series of coincidences.

Now before you start, i want to make sure you understand one thing, ANY POST SUPPORTED BY BELIEF IN GOD WILL BE IGNORED. You can support your ideas with faith and religion but i do not want to hear that "God determines our fate." No, i want to hear mention of plausible support.

My idea is that our life is driven by a series of actions caused by coincidences. For example, if i were to kill the president, then i would be hunted for. This would cause me to be on the run and then to flee the country. I would then run into a beautiful woman who i would marry. This was driven by a series of coincidences. If i had not killed the president, i wouldn't of met that girl. This was just an example.

So my belief is that our actions cause a series of coincidences that lead up to other instances.

Please feel free to post, but not spam.

    Fate or Coincidence?

Obviously it's not all fate. If you never go to school your never going to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc. or anything that requires a lot of education. Many things that people think are fate are really things that they were doing but just didn't realize it. Almost anyone rich or famous did something for a long time in which they became good at it and became rich or famous.

    Fate or Coincidence?

To be honest, I always thought coincidences are the explanation, etc. but after a while I noticed a LOT of things happen for a reason.. and I am not saying 'God' does these things, but that they all happen for a reason. I think this sounds really cheesy, but it's what I believe. And nice topic ;)

    Fate or Coincidence?

Have you ever read about synchronicity? If not, you should.

It's basically a term for all those amazing little coincidences that happen, and they can be interpreted in different ways. Personally they happen to me in such great number and frequency with such great force, that I've found it very hard to ignore that there may be some mystical force at work.

At the same time, I've still researched the opposite end of things rather intensively and many people speculate that it is all caused by the brain, sort of like looking for certain things so you find them, or wanting to interpret things a certain way so you do.

Either way, it's still a very interesting phenomenon.

I see it as a way that everything connects... I just have this overwhelming feeling that if someone could step back far enough and view the universe as a full picture, everything would be completely connected through things like this.

    Fate or Coincidence?

i reckon fate is alot of crap lol, the world doesnt revolve like that, if it was fate then all the bad people in the world would be sorted by fate.

Im gunna take a quote from The_Ace here if thats ok, "If you never go to school your never going to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc. or anything that requires a lot of education."

I also agree with this reson on why life isnt fate, but merely a bunch of coincidences and choces all added up

    Fate or Coincidence?

I believe in coinsidence, its a coinsidence that the moon is exactly the right distance between the earth and the sun to appear to be the exact same size. now that is one hell of a coinsidence, or maybe you might think it was fate. everything happens for a reason, but doesnt mean its fate.

My understanding of the word "fate" means pre writen, its allready going to happen, its been scripted. which i dont believe

    Fate or Coincidence?

I don't believe in fate, it's all purely coincidental, a series of events if you must. And to people saying
It's the curiosity of man kind, someone came across the thread and had the urge to post.

    Fate or Coincidence?

Well a lot of people think that fate is a bunch of crap. But i think that "Fate" is the coincidental meeting between two beings that met by a series of other coincidences. So i think that in a way fate exists, but sometimes, it can be used too much.

With that said, "fate" is just what you think of conincidence
<< To back up what I said. Quite a interesting topic,

    Fate or Coincidence?

You see, i have yet to meet one person that proves that it is some super-natural force that controls our fate. I always hear that fate is pre-determined, but i think this is wrong. Was it pre-determined i was going to do this? I just simply believe that fate is simply just a series of coincidences, but faith transformed it into a super-natural power.

    Fate or Coincidence?

So if i interpret correctly, you are also saying that we determine our own "Fate." That fate is not a pre-determined factor, but a factor that is controlled by every second of our actions? I agree with this.

You should check out this video Light:

It's a scene from one of my favorite moves that accurately sums up what we currently know about the question of free will and fate, etc.

    Fate or Coincidence?

I think there is no fate. If you sit in a box for 50 years you will not meet your dream lover, as you pointed out in your 1st post. I think nothing controls you, everything is driven by chance. Coincidence, if you call it that. The more things you do the more are the chances you will encounter something life-changing.

    Fate or Coincidence?

But that is fate (the bolded). Fate explains that everything our life is set-up to lead to a common goal, your FATE. I do not personally fully believe in fate, but i do believe that our acts cause coincidences that cause other coincidences that cause a goal. So Fate is shady because the meaning is different from person to person.

    Fate or Coincidence?

"They're no coincidences, they're only the illusions of them." - V

I support those who agree with fate, if its a universal being that put it into out lives or just pure luck. Coincidences are not plausible because things need a reason to happen, they are just not there laid out.
