support but with a 2 year expiration ( i think thats the reason that they are dealing with it on a cas to case basis+maby the severity of it, ratting someone is more than asking for ppl to type their password, both are intentional but 1st is well organised, harder to do for a kid) because i found out some very legit sythe users used to be ddosers/database hackers but it was then they were 14 and now they are 19-20 and feel a whole different way about the indurstry


rat=ban, until debt of users who proved everything is paid
steal from a staker/owe a staker = ban, until debt is paid, then twc for 1 month
ddosing someone for fun=warning/1 week twc
ddosing someone in deadman/stake = ban, until debt is paid


all blackhat activities should be treated as scamming and victims who are sythe users should be paid back

 

Mixed opinions:

- If involves things like RAT'ing, or any other form of keylogging, ransomware, etc. Then support.

- If its minor stuff like buying a cheeky netflix account etc then no support. A lot of people buy things like that and in my opinion its hardly any different from piracy.

- If this is fully supported, I can see it as being a rule used to witch hunt other users and try to get them banned for when they bought a cracked spotify premium account on a cold winter night last year.

Needs to be very specific if it gets passed. Blackhat is a very general and broad term which can encompass purchasing cracked dominos and spotify accounts to shit like stealing credit card information. Only support if theres legitimate and clear definition as I can think of several active users on this site who'd be banned immediately if this rule was put into effect for things that are barely blackhat but would still fall under the definition.

 

It depends what you define under blackhat activities. If you'd ask me what blackhat activities mean I would be thinking of things such as hacking, doxing, ddosing, RAT, SQL injections, life-ruining services (yes this exists) etc.

Using a cracked Spotify account or w/e is considered fencing at it's best.

For all REAL blackhat activities I would say support, but all that other stuff is not-relevant and would only be used for a witch hunt like @Lime said.

 

I've never bought or used a cracked whatever account... Dominoe's or Netfix, it still belongs to someone and you've essentially using it. Especially if it's something that will run up a charge or will make the unfortunate owner lose money over if you use an account.

 

50/50 tbh -

I think if someone shows interest in educating themselves on things that are blackhat they shouldn't be punished, there's nothing wrong with educating yourself on topics even if you don't plan on venturing in to them yourself.

I think if you're actively ratting/swatting/scamming or anything of this nature on blackhat sites then action should be taken but showing interest or talking about them should be fine.

 

I highly support. We should not endorse nefarious activities. We are mostly a marketplace which should foster trust.

I support this. It is illegal to penetrate a system in which you do not have permission. I support this. Just like we ban users who off site scam, I don't see any problem with offsite black hats being banned from sythe. However, if they are blackhat, they can easily get away with creating a sythe account undetected.

 

@beezmans it seems like you are talking about a ethical hacker, grey hat, or even just a runescape botter.

He is particularly talking about black hat which usually involves, ratting, virus inhection, unauthorized penetration ( that's what she said ), Brute forcing, and black hats are usually people who "hack", or in most cases "steal".

Some do it for the money, some for the fame, some just cause.

Sythe is the perfect place for black hats to prey since brute forcing, sploofing, social engineering, and other tools are become more and more popular each year.

 

This more than likely won't pass, so just about everyone's opinion including mine, yours etc is irrelevant. Richard used to actually care enough to not want people on his site who were ok with such things, now he's just trying to keep every possible member he can. Simply won't implement something like this because it will result in fewer members lol.

  I recover a account I personally sold, asked a friend for a ddos attack , personal ddos attacks, attempted scamming of rsgp. These were actions I done before I got into the community I am in now. When I lured on runescape , nothing was "off limits" to me and me participating in these activities were the norm in my day to day runescape "career".

I don't like blackhat and 100% support reverting back to not allowing it. Its not the type of crowd Sythe needs and if we are lenient on it, it basically invites it.

This would take up staff resources, and a lot of time. I think it remaining case by case scenario is best moving forward.
