Give me any VB6 project, and I'll convert into Delphi, for free. I just need to train my skill at Delphi, so yeah.

Plus, Delphi > VB6, so you have nothing to lose. I'm using Delphi 7.

It seems like you are asking for help, but trying to pass it off as you helping us.

 

Really? Does it look like I'm asking for help? I'm simply asking for programs to convert into Delphi. I'm not doing anyone a favour by converting it into Delphi. Oh wait, if I do convert it into Delphi, the following happens:

• The creator of the VB6 application can see how the same stuff is accomplished in Delphi.
• The general community can learn of Delphi's benefits.
• The application will probably get more attention, and be further developed in a better programming language.

 

Well, considering how most people here have problems with arrays, converting a string to a number and other small things, I only think that Delphi will confuse them.


But apart from that I do agree with your statements about teaching a new language (Not necessarily because it is better then any other).

 

Yeah, each language has its own advantages, and disadvantages.
Unfortunately, VB6 is not considered a "REAL" programming language. I'm not talking about just Sythe.org, I'm talking about the whole universe of programming communities. In VB6, it is extremely easy to do ANYTHING at all. Why? Because VB6 relies on certain DLLs. If you haven't noticed, it is much easier to port a Delphi application to Wine, than it is to port a VB6 application to Wine. Forget .NET, it's not going anywhere if it isn't, somehow or another, ported to other operating systems.

Yes, Delphi might be confusing, but I'm saying that the knowledge would be far superior, in this community, had the base of it focused more on Delphi programming than VB6. Just like if you get more respect for coding something in C++ than in Pascal, you get more respect if you code in Delphi than VB6. I'm not trying to bash Microsoft, they made a great product, which was easy to use, and is probably used a lot. C# .NET is great. It's just that Delphi seems more like an actual programming language.
