Prevent the "Artistic Death" of an Innocent Animal

In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery and began starving him to death.
For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition watched, emotionless, the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died.
Does THIS sound like art to you?
But this is not all...the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of Central America decided that the 'installation' WAS actually art, so Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the Biennial of 2008.

Sign the petition, stop this "artist" from hurting an innocent animal.
    Petition is here: http://www.petitiononline.com/ea6gk/petition.html

Taken from a FaceBook group, this is pretty horrible. Sick fucks in the world I guess...

artistic? yes in a very sureal way.

cruel? yes in a very sadistic way.

But you must ask your self what is it that this guy is trying to say? Is it a protest about human dominance over lower species, if thats the case then he did the job. He has obviously brought enough attention to the issue that people have felt compelled to sign a petition. that is what Surreal Art is supposed to do. The true translation of surreal is 'more-than-real' the definition is to provoke thought through unconventional and often shocking methods. Starving an animal sure is shocking enough, and it serves its purpose in bringing attention to a broader subject.

I'm no Michale Vick, but i can see where the so called artist is trying to go.

Is this such a bad thing? Perhaps the many onlookers of this feat of cruelty shall gain more compassion and interest in helping other animals in situations like this to be free from acts such as this.

Anyway, every day, all of you (unless you're a vegetarian, and I know most of you aren't) eat meat from cattle, including veil, bacon and other meats which come from animals brought up in tortuous surroundings, spending their lives unable to move, so as to keep their meat tender, and you go out and buy their meat to eat for dinner. Though when an act like this happens, you're all for helping this dog. Why is this? Is it because the dog is "cuter" or because most people think its socially acceptable to eat meat from tortured animals but not to do it to a dog?

When it comes down to it, stop picking the battles you wish to fight on the basis of the animal itself, that's hypocritical. You'll do your help a dog tortured for art, but not help cattle tortured so that your food is cheaper, or animals which have cosmetic and other products tested on them so that when you buy it, you know it doesn't have adverse effects?
