[DENIED] Require a value/format to be put towards every vouch.

This is probably the dumbest suggestion I've read in a very long time. Staff aren't going to waste their time making sure your vouches fit a certain format nor should they. There's simply no easy way to ask customers(typically newcomers) to follow a format nor should they be asked to. If they wish to share their opinion about a trade then they shouldn't be filtered. /close this worthless thread pls

 

Derik put it very bluntly here but I have to agree with him, the focus should always be educating the user base in this case on what a vouch of value is. If I've got 100 vouches selling gold to r2p all that shows is that I've gone first in a trade 100 times, there's no value in these vouches. A prime example of this would be stream punk, he attained mass vouches from his twitch bond service where he was trusted on numerous occasions with 1-10m, in his scam quit we can see that users trusted him with upwards of 300m. Be more vigilant and don't bother with randoms when buying accounts.

 

How would you feel about an optional format that users can use on vouches? Besides saying that this is a bad suggestion, you're not giving any reasons to back up your post. What's wrong with the improvement of the vouches sub-forum? It's outdated, easily abused, and vouch farmers clearly get away with more than they should due to the non-regulation / optional use of vouches. By educating newer members that vouches realistically mean nothing (people try to say this but CLEARLY it doesn't work) with the implementation of an optional vouches format . . . how is it worthless?

Yes, there is no values put towards these vouches at all. A majority of my vouches are from doing fire capes, typically with a trust of 5-30m. When a user trusted me with his 170m bank he clearly had no idea that I had not been trusted with that YET on Sythe. Who's to say that I am trustworthy or that I was going to walk away with the money? No one. If someone puts the trust in someone, fine, but if vouches were higher quality overall it would be more organized, cause less problems, and express the trustworthy-ness per individual.

@OP here's some more reasons it's a bad thing

One, regulation. Sythe is a free market, I shouldn't have to disclose any sort of figures or business if I don't want to. Mods power trip enough without more regulations

Two, what does this solve? How are you going to properly regulate it with the mods? Are you going to add more mods? There's tons of vouches, and the only people who know if the vouches aren't legit are the two people involved in it. What's stopping them from bumping up the size of the trade a bit.

Also, if someone doesn't know to look for vouch value already, this rule doesn't change that. People that farm vouches can still do that, if someone has 100 vouches and says they handled thousands of dollars a new user would be impressed regardless of whether he went first or not. (because they don't know that distinction)

1) Sythe is a free market, obviously, but in order for a middleman trade to be valid there are multiple precautions the middleman needs to take. What's wrong with validating vouches, optionally perhaps?
2) Very fair point, I don't think I'm asking for that much however.
3) It may solve the issue with vouch farmers building up worthless vouches to make themselves look trusted to noobs only to walk away with a lot of money.
4) Nah, that's not necessary, mods do their jobs just fine

 

Idk what this has to do with middlemans.

It's requiring more out of sellers, since they'd be the ones responsible for making sure it's all correct. And it adds more responsibility to mods since they have to enforce it

3. But it wouldn't, there's a reason newcomers get scammed more than veteran users. Newcomers don't properly research how to trade

4. The point is if we keep adding more things for mods to do they'll get overworked and eventually would need more

A "vouch" can be for anything, and not necessarily a "Valued" trade.
