    Mac or Windows?

-_____- You've got to be kidding me right. If a website's URL is "themacsucks.com" you can assume that it's information will be biased/skewed.
    Seriously
When Apple claims the Mac "Just Works" they don't mean "just work" at "work". So far their product line doesn't appeal to any businesses outside the creative industry. Based on the extreme stupidity of some of the replies in this thread, you can assume that no user will try to send email via command line/script (but they will however try out the built-in Mail.app which is much more simple than Outlook. If you have a GMail, Yahoo, or other popular mail account all you need is the username and password, no messing with SMTP, POP3, IMAP, etc). In regard to integrating a mac with a UNIX NIS login domain, once again, the average user on this forum will have no use for it. If you're looking for a decent backup utility, you need to look no further than the Time Machine application included with OS X. It blows any other Windows alternative out of the water both in it's user interface and functionality.
Do you know how many more talented artists work on the Mac platform. One example is hardly enough to prove a point. Also why the heck is he comparing Premier Pro to iMovie. iMovie is targeted at the same audience as Windows Movie Maker (which sucks). The Mac however, has Final Cut Pro. Almost every major film studio is using FCP/AVID to edit their movies, and you'd be hard pressed to find an Indie filmmaker that uses a Final Cut Pro alternative.
Once again his argument fails. G3 and G4 Macs aren't even being sold by Apple anymore. If you cracked open the new Intel iMac, you'd see that the design inside of the box has been thought out just as carefully as the outside (unlike most Windows boxes).
I have NEVER gotten a virus on either Windows or OS X, so I can't say much about this. However, I will say this: Just because the Mac has more security flaws doesn't mean that they've been exploited. Furthermore, Apple's most recent OS was launched in October 07, thus rendering their data obsolete.
WTF is this guys talking about? Just because BSD UNIX has been around for decades doesn't mean it never gets updated. And how does it borrow from linux/Classic? Classic apps don't even run on the new Intel Macs, and if you consider OS X borrowing from Linux just cause they're both based off of UNIX, be my guest. Also don't tell me that Microsoft completely rewrites all of its code after every release. If they did, I doubt Vista would be this bloated.
    Meh, he "retracted it".

That's cause they're all ugly (JK xD). -___-
I have video chats all the time with my friends. :/

Once again his argument fails. GIMP is available on OS X as well. Furthermore, some high-end photo applications such as Aperture and Pixelmator only work on OS X.

Yet I'd rather look at a pre-made template than some crappy myspace page a 13 year old designed himself.

    Ok.

Logic Sudio is much better than Acid Pro, and it's OS X only.

Wow, this guys has no clue how movies are supposed to be done. iMovie is not Hollywood level. He should be comparing his Ulead and Premiere Pro to Apple Shake and Final Cut Pro. Shake not only has far better chromakeying technology (such as both primatte and keylight keyers), but includes many other advanced compositing tools. I doubt you can find any successful filmmaker that would chose Ulead over Final Cut Studio.
Note to Windows users: If you want to do chromakeying etc, try Adobe After Effects CS3, granted it's not as good as Shake, but it beats Ulead.

I don't really see how this makes the Mac suck. I'd say it's more of a tradeoff. Also, look at the Mac Pro, it's almost as customizable as any PC out there.

If you can't figure out how to remove Chess, iChat, and Grapher without crashing the install, you have serious issues. It's not that hard to lock down the Bluetooth or Airport.
Also, these features are not "bloatworthy" for the average user; Windows contains blotware for both the average user and the corporate user.

    Mac or Windows?

Mac Pro. Awesome specifications. Max of 32GB RAM, 2xQuad Core processors, nVidia Quadro w/ 1.5GB GDDR3 etc.

Toko on Cruels.net has one, and he just uses VMWare Fusion to run Windows on a second monitor when he needs it, with no lag. Pretty neat.

Plus, I like OSX. A lot easier to use for me.

    Mac.
    Sexier.
    Virus free.
    Simple.

For the people who posted above saying they are hard to use, annoying.
That is probably because you have used them once and have not had a chance to get used to them.
    Like most things in life.

    Windows are faster on paper.
    Mac is far more efficient.

    Mac or Windows?

Well, I don't really know all the technical differences between the two, like the base OS software on each and how they work. I do have Windows Vista, and until recently a Mac OS X (Tiger). Windows is easily best for general use, like surfing, downloading, gaming, etc.

Since I play guitar, I am also big into music and such. Apple Garage Band is the most amazing piece of music software ever created, and far surpasses Guitar Pro. Mac defiantly has the upper hand when you want to do anything media-related.

Ugh... OS X actually surpasses Windows in many benchmarks. It is pretty much impossible to definitively say which OS is faster as they each perform different tasks faster.

Wow. Why don't you actually back up what you say instead of making such an ignorant (not to mention untrue) comment?

Okay, first of all, you don't have to quote what's above you. And I don't always feel like writing a 5 paragraph statement on why something is better then the other just to have to state my opinion. Windows runs a lot better, is more secure (the only reason macs don't get viruses is because no one uses them so no one wants to write viruses for them), and Windows has the most third party developers, on a Mac you are stuck with the crap Apple gives you.

    Mac or Windows?

I quote what's above me just in case something gets edited, and it's a habit.
If you want to make a claim without sounding ignorant. And I never asked for a five paragraph statement. I merely asked for you to back up your claim with more than just "Mac OS X is extremely terrible".
Although less people writing viruses for OS X is one reason there aren't as many OS X viruses as Windows. There are many other reasons such as the fact that OS X is based off of BSD/UNIX, which has better a better permissions system than Windows.
It doesn't matter how many 3rd party developers you have. How good the developers are is what matters. And most good big developers such as Adobe make cross platform products.
