[DENIED] Punishment for those who mess up PM confirmations

lmao your worker sure its new. I can smell desperation to trade and get the extra 2 cents. for business the person must have cool head and always wait for the experienced to come. otherwise enjoy getting scammed xD. I hope this scam helped your worker in what this place its . one mistake and rip everything.

This is why I feel something should be put in place. I mean, I get that it isn't the persons fault who gets impostor screwing it up for them, but at the same time they could send proper PM's. The same when you have ever spoke to me and asked me to for PM's and the same with middlemanning, you know I run the same protocol.

 

If you fail to send a good confirmation message, it may result in a TWC, DNT, or compensation to the victim. It’s not very difficult to post what’s being traded, all parties involved and their Skype/Discord, and a screenshot of the chat. I’ll leave this open still for any other suggestion on the topic.

 

I actually do not include the other traders skype or discord for a very specific reason when I trade.

Back when I literally had 20-30 impostors - They would contact me for trades on skypes like lllll3ii1343lllii then try to impostor scam on iiii3ii1343iiill (or something like that) and most people just see that they got a PM or just glance at the skype names and end up being scammed, so the format I always use is;

I've never had a issue for years since but I actually only occasionally include the persons I'm talking to skype/discord for that precise reason above, including it was actually getting more people scammed then not, the only time I do so is if I'm trading with someone trustworthy and or they have a "normal" skype name.

 

That makes no sense and is literally the dumbest shit I have read in a long time.

 

For a while now I have sent pm confirmations with a picture like this, showing clearly the chat and skype name, makes it very clear who you are talking too and the conversation,it gives as much information as possible.
repeat offenders of proper pm's should be liable for the scams if its a regular issue

On-topic: Support, if a user fails to provide the proper PM and money is lost due to it, they should be TWC'ed/DNT'ed and liable for the $ loss

 

Make them PM you with their ID and then reply to that if its correct.
If you're sending a PM like the ones you are atm people are more likely to fall for imposter scams because they just received a PM from what they think is the correct person, when in reality they're talking to a scammer. What you're doing isn't wrong, just not the best option.

I think stating both parties skype/discord plus logs is more than sufficient. I personally usually c/p the entire convo as the first few messages tend to be much different between an impostor and actual provider.

Past this is entirely the victims fault.

There is already punishment and it is dealt with case by case. Always a TWC and sometimes results in compensation. I feel there are levels to this as it should be for everything.

If someone tells you hey pm me "hey wolfman123" and you actually only send that, and someone gets scammed for you being a complete dumbass as a service provider, then you should give full compensation. If you just forget to say their skype or maybe forget the logs but still paste both tags, just a TWC is enough.


btw if someone tells you to PM them a specific phrase or something like that, they are more than likely trying to double impostor scam.

 

If anyone gets scammed because of a bad PM sent on your part, you should be held liable to refund the victim.

I have recently (2-3 days ago) started a new discord channel not just for my Runescape services, but for general marketing as I am going to be expanding even further into other games pretty soon, and I have a normal rank like you would have along with a verified user rank so you know this is actually the person you're speaking with.

I'm pretty sure both @King and @Champ being special ranks in my channel can confirm this also. I have set it up so users have to PM me with both their discord ID tag + a snippet of our chat logs (sort of like how you would confirm your Skype etc) then I have been adding their profile links to their notes for users to check out as well. This way it avoids any confusion and impostors when it comes to scamming and such and is so much easier.

 

Bad PMs almost always result in a TWC issued, and sometimes a DNT if a scam was allowed to happen. If I'm not mistaken, we've had instances of poor PM practices reported and they have resulted in TWCs in the past (even without scams occurring).

Your argument of "2 days later they have the TWC removed because of vouches" doesn't really work because it would only be removed if their PM practices have been corrected. In the case a scam occurred, it's very likely their immediate appeal would be declined, and it's usually done on a case-by-case basis.

Disagree. Every trader should be aware of good PM practices and the more trusted you are, the more likely it is you're going to have imposters. It's on the more trusted user to ensure PMs sent have accurate usernames and a chat log to reduce man in the middle attacks and offer more protection to newer traders.

 

The "two day" speech was more a dig at you as a whole, and a figure of speech I think that would be obvious. I know things go into vote and so on, but even then a few good trades means they should have it removed, and it happens again.

The more experienced user should absolutely know what to do, and try his best to make sure any newcomers have a safe experience. Despite that, it's not his job to babysit other people

 

Whilst I do agree with you @Lilmj27 I am having this same discussion on OSbot now against @RoomScape as it seems he feels @Lrug Dord didn't PM someone correctly (despite he actually did) because it didn't contain a runescape delivery name in the forum PM which is usually left to the Skype/discord chat.

I'm sorry to say but it seems people really do like to piss each other off. The fact will always be that there are scum bags out there, people who scam each other like fucking idiots and it doesn't mean we should be having to do more to our confirmations than our details of contact like we normally would just because 1 or 2 people feel we should.
