    Question

Learn native C, I'm sure your problems will be fixed then.

But if you insist on Visual Basic, at least make sure he has the runtime files, or as Microsoft calls it, the .Net Framework. I recommend jumping out of the "Sythe cliche", as I call it, and actually make productive things rather than an umpteenth client that is forgotten within a week, or a Macro that is a copy of another, with no real use or purpose.

Take a gander around http://microsoft.com/ and search for the .Net Framework. It really depends on what version of Visual Studio you uses as to which one he should get. Visual Studio 2005 uses .Net 2.0, 2008 uses 3.5 etc. etc.

    Question

The best way to learn is to pick up a book written by a certified professional such as Herbert Shildt, and read it. Of course, doing the exercises in the book is necessary too, but it's how I learned Java and C/++ basics.

Webbrowsers don't teach you much apart from how to add a control and use its inbuilt methods.

    Post the exact error.

    Question

It says "Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files. Contact application vendor for assistance." And I sent him everything that was created with it.

    Question

Does it say what the missing files are?
