Who is to decide if someone is mature enough?

People who have strong connections with there other girlfriend and boyfriend should be able to have sex, but many many many of the underage sex occurrences are merely minors who are at risk teens and are subject to substance abuse such alcohol and drugs. These substances impair these young kids to make good judgments and they think they will be "cool" if they have sex young. I was one of these people and lost my virginity at the age of 15 I really don't want to get into it but i was at one of those stereotypical parties and we were both twisted (drunk and high) and i had to chance to take a very beautiful girl to bed and I took it. I have no regrets, it was an amazing experience and we are still very good friends after that party. i only wish i could have saved it for the person i marry.

I know a few couples, where the guy is older than the girl. Most of them are not too far off in age, like one for example: Guy is 19, and the girl is 16, and I'm alright with that because they really like eachother. This is an extremely hard subject to argue, because I find it wrong for a 30 year old to be dating/having sex with a 16 year old girl(just an example). Either way it's considered statutory rape, and the male can be arrested for it. I believe there should be some sort of age difference, possibly 1-4 years seems reasonable for underage people.

What is wrong with relationships with varying differences in age? Because a tree grows old does that mean it should stop bearing fruit?

what sort of valid reason would a 13-14 year old have? and i dont think at that age you should take boyfriends n girlfriends seriously. its way to younge.
its fair enough to fool around and stuff, but to get serious, comitt to each other is abit much.

serious relationship suck, you loose your freedom. I learnt the hard way. had a girlfriend for over a year, wanted my life back, wanted freedom again, not to feel tied down.

All im saying is keep sex as just sex, there are plenty of girls out there that just want sex and not a serious relationship, they are the ones you want to get on to, not these ones that want to pump out babies at 20 years old.

oh and can someone tell me the legal age in america? its 16 here in aus, i think thats fair enough.

I'm not ageist, well maybe a little. I think there should be some common sense applied to this though.

I find it wrong for a 12 year old to be dating a 20 year old (just an example), don't you? I guess it wouldn't matter if the girl was mature enough, but age can't anyways declare how mature someone is.

Not at all. Nothing is wrong with it whatsoever. But you see my first post, sexual and intimate activities aren't what I like to indulge in. I honestly don't care in the age, nor the maturity; it's their decision.

Most people sex out of curiousity. This applies to young people who knows nothing about sex and its consequences. This is the place where sex education will come in.

 

okay whats the difference in 18 and 15,16,17. love? cause what makes love? its someones thought and how the feel about someone. so love isn't very distinct or certain. its not your place to tell someone they don't love someone because thats not your right i mean if you tell one person that, it should apply to everyone else, unless you are not somewhat mature or blessed with mental retardation.
