How to Install Winrar and Use it

A simple guide on how to install Winrar created by yours truly.

This first part shows HOW TO INSTALL WINRAR, scroll down for how to use.

1) Download Winrar here if you do not have it http://www.rarlab.com/
and click downloads like shown below.



2) Once you have clicked Downloads select the language you want your version of WinRar to be in, like so.



3) Once you have clicked the language a screen will pop up telling you to save or open the file. Save it into a familar place like your documents.



4) Go to your documents and double click on wrar371
and click run



5) Click Install



6) Now a screen will pop up asking what interfaces you want etc. I suggest you just leave everything the way it is and then select ok.



7) Another screen will pop up telling you that it has completely installed. Select Done. You have now sucessfuly installed WinRar.




HOW TO USE WINRAR

1) Once you have downloaded Winrar and a program open WinRar and find the program. The programs will look like this.




2) Once you have found your program, click it once and then click extract to



3) Then Click the file you wish to extract the program and click ok



4) Then find your file and enjoy your program. You have sucessfuly extracted a program using WinRar. Pat yourself on the back.

You don't cover passwords, comments, the fact that it's nagware, ways around passwords, encryption, pretty much anything past installing it and extracting a single file. You also didn't do a comparison between 7zip, bzip2, gzip, zip or other compressed archives. What about split archives? Self-extracting archives?

 

This is just a simple basic guide how to install and how to use.

 

Actually, 7zip and bzip2 achieve better compression.

On the " How to use Winrar " part, there's an image that doesn't work. But overall nice guide. You included pictures and ok grammar. You need to include commas in your text. You set it out nicely. I could understand it 100%. Overall I give it a 8/10.

 

Hmm but thats how to get and use the free version right? Free version doesn't extract all files, can someone tell me how to get the FULL version for free?
