Numbers are symbols, yes, but in reality, things operate according to logic. You cannot sit on a farm and pray that God will make all of your crops grow in 24 hours.

That doesn't logically disprove Santa's existence. One who believes in Santa might well claim that it's not "Santa's will" that you receive presents, so your parents have to put them there for you.

You just admitted it - you believe in something completely without proof. I mean, there isn't even a logical reason to begin believing in the first place, apart from the fact that that's how you have been raised! Well, since you're open to believing without any logical reasons, why not believe that Mars is hollow, and that there is a civilization of Rabbit-Gods there? There's no proof for that either - you could claim it's all about "faith"!

I doubt that those are real. In any case, why doesn't God make such miracles as healing amputees?

Proof against Santa Claus:
1, My mother told me he does not exist.
2, I go christmas shopping for my sisters.

Your mother is omniscient?

How do you know that Santa Claus does not simply ignore your family?

Do this for me. Hold up both of your hands. With your left hand hold up 3 fingers. With your right hold up 1 finger. Notice a difference? Numbers are not just symbols.

Lol @ that, but we can take a survey on the world and 99% will say Santa doesn't Exist. 1% will be dumb kids.

Well, there has been "Proof" In the past, just not now, how can 20,000+ Different artists draw Jesus Christ the same way he looks, in all of them and a couple of different thousand books say he has done miracles. God has said that this life will be filled with hard-ship, but have faith and you will be rewarded.

Because if he did that, everyone would believe, this is all sounding logical to those who know anything about the things they hear. I doubt many of those people lied, you can't just merely say that all of those people have BS'd.

So the number of people who believe in a concept is a valid indicator of how correct it is?

Jesus was Arabic. Most artist's depictions of Jesus show a nice white man with blue eyes and fair skin...too bad this isn't the case.

If you believe in something hard enough, you will see signs of it everywhere.

If you were writing a book, and wanted to encourage people to follow the message of the book in a more enlightened time, wouldn't you put something about "there will be hardship, but just believe!" so that the faithful could quote that at the non-believers?

Ah, the classic argument about taking away the need for faith. It's funny to hear this, since 2,000 years ago, God actively appeared to the people, incarnated himself in human form, performed extreme miracles, etc. Why did he do it then, but not now?

Again, if you believe in something hard enough, you will see signs of it everywhere. I'm sure they believe that Jesus helped them, but did he really favor them over millions of others?

The Existence of God

I definitely do not believe in God.
It just seems highly illogical to believe in some almighty being that you were told about as a young child without any empirical evidence.

Not that I don't think most religions are a bad thing in theory. Religion is suppose to keep people on the right track, aka not committing injustice, or overall simply having morals, and I find that I good thing. My only problem with religion is that it is corrupted in the following ways:
1. There are too many religions in the world. Instead of all getting along, we fight? Why? One of the many reasons is religion. One person doesn't believe in what another person believes in. It starts as an argument, then turns into a debate, then to a fight, and before you know it, you have religious wars covering the entire planet.
2. We as humans desire power. There's no denying that. If you don't believe me, take a look at history. There's thousands of years of evidence out there. Humans use religion as a tool to gain power. "Do what I say if you don't want to go to hell." My theory is that that's how most religions began: people creating this mystical belief that if you don't follow the will of my God, you will be forced to burn in hell or be forced to suffer some other cruel and unusual punishment for all eternity.

The Existence of God

you say santa doesnt exist because your parents told you he doesnt. if your parents told you god doesnt exist you would feel just as stupid as you did when you found out santa wasnt real. i bet you said, how did i believe in that shit, i know i did. the first thing i said when i found out i was like, so god isnt real too?

go back to when you where a kid, remember how real santa felt? your parents even told you he is real. this is no different to god, you believe god because you have been told he is real. to believe in something just because you have been told its true is silly.

when i was a kid, i used to question santa when i still believed in him. i said to mum, why is there barcodes on everything when santa makes his toys?
this is the simple thing you god believers fail to do, to question it. all the answers you get when you do is, its about faith. all your saying is tell yourself its real enough times until you believe it.

The entire argument boils down to faith. Anyone is entitled to believe in whatever they want. And Shredderbeam, don't pull that "arbitrary proof" argument. You just further prove faith by saying that, because no one can test God's existence in a lab. Again, it comes down to if you want to put your faith in Him. By the way, it takes just as much faith to believe in evolution as it does to believe in God ;)

Faith is belief without proof. It is entirely irrational.

Who said that they weren't?

Arbitrary proof?

Definition of arbitrary: (adj) arbitrary (based on or subject to individual discretion or preference or sometimes impulse or caprice) "an arbitrary decision"; "the arbitrary rule of a dictator"; "an arbitrary penalty"; "of arbitrary size and shape"; "an arbitrary choice"; "arbitrary division of the group into halves".

Definition of proof: Any factual evidence that helps to establish the truth of something; "if you have any proof for what you say, now is the time to produce it".

I must admit that I have no idea what you are on about.

Prove faith? Were you in doubt of its existence?

But why would you ever need faith in the first place? Why not claim to have faith in Zeus, or Santa, or the Invisible Pink Unicorn?

But why would you want to? If somebody told you that they wanted to put their faith in a Mexican wrestling champion who claimed to be Jesus, and who demanded everybody's money as a sign of repentance, would you respectfully tell him that he can believe whatever he wants, or would you call him an idiot, like he is?

What kind of an idiotic statement is that? There is overwhelming evidence to support evolution, yet none whatsoever to support the existence of God. Why would it require faith to believe in evolution?

There is much more evidence behind evolution than there is faith in an almighty being.

For example, our DNA structure, our body etc is _EXTREMELY_ similar to that of a monkey or gorilla. Apes are humanoid, we're humanoid. Apes have the same features as we do (hands, feet, similar bone structure). Now comparing that to faith, I'd say that evolution is a fairly legitimate explanation.

Now, on to religion. Look me in to the eye, and honestly tell me that you've seen a "miracle" that cannot be proven by laws and principles of science.

You speak of "Proof" as if it's fake, meaning not evidence at all. That's what quotes do, among other things, after all; give sarcastic meaning.

Well, sometimes you go with the flow.. no answer ;)

I DID NOT KNOW THAT.. if that's the case.. then yeah.. cuz I see him blonde haired all the time.

Not always correct.. and no one looks for miracles.. they HAPPEN.

Hmm..

I do not believe that AT ALL.. god never became human.

I QUIT.. NOTHING ELSE TO ARGUE WITH YOU.. YOU WIN :D <3

That doesn't have any impact on whether it's true or not.

No, they don't.

I'll say it again: Miracles violate natural laws. The evidence supporting natural laws is absolutely overwhelming. For a miracle to be accepted as true by any rational person, the evidence supporting it must be more than overwhelming - it must amount to a full and direct proof.

If you accept what the Bible says, God directly sent down his Son to Earth, who then actively performed miracles. If he was willing to do it then, why not now?

Have you converted to Atheism? If not, why?

HAHAHAHA listen to yourself. man this made me laugh. if you dont want to give christians a bad name dont post stuff like this.

There is alot of evidence that shows evolution to be true. Science has nothing to do with faith, its about truth.

Oh and one more thing, last time these "god people" came to my house they actually wern't against evolution, tho they think god is doing it.

The Existence of God

To tell you the truth, i believe it is a possibility that god is real and that he isnt. You dont need to see something to believe it, u just need to, as its been said alredy on the thread, have some faith. There is many things that go against the "concept of god" such as: many people believe that earth was created by millions and millions of atoms, or some people think earth was created from gases in space, but although those are more realistic than god some people do believe that god created the earth. so i personnally believe its a 50/50 chance.

Tbh there is nothing believable about god clicking his fingers and making the universe.

To believe in god you must believe in magic, and to believe in magic you need to believe in braking the laws of physics, which is impossible.

Matter cannot be created or destroyed, only converted. every peice of matter that is in this universe has always been here since the beginning of the universe. Now, you need unbelievable amounts of energy to create the smallest amount of matter, so where did god get such energy to create the universe?

To believe in god creating the universe, you shouldnt have any reason not to believe in santa
