Much needed updates in my opinion. OSRS economy needed a gold sink badly.

 

@cvane You said that rwt would increase. I don’t see how the tax update could possibly have a positive impact on rwt, aside from a potential increase in the price of gold. My stance is that it will be costly to rwt through the arena now. The extra 1% taxed would have to be factored in to a rwt sale.

It’s such a major gold sink that it will have a huge impact on the econ. Assuming both parties pay the 1%, we’re looking at 20m removed from the game for every 1b staked. I would say that there is an average of 5b staked hourly. That number relates to 100m removed from the game every hour. I don’t think any sink to date compares. That might seem like a high hourly removal but if you compare it to a low estimate of 20,000 players making 1m/hr in items/gold, they are bringing in 20b. So you have a ratio of 100:20,000 or 0.5% of wealth removed:wealth gained.

 

how could tax increase rwt? Easy, people rwting through trading like its always been done, except there will be more access for people to gamble and therefore rwt. I agree that it will be a huge gold sink, I think it will be far greater a sink than that

 

I honestly dislike this update. No idea why they would implement a 1% arena tax. That will literally not effect anything in my opinion.

Yes! How are people not realizing this? The Ge having the tax would make more sense anyway because its a service and would promote face to face trade. Taxing duel arena doesn't make sense.

 

I think a GE tax would cause quite the up-roar in the community though.

 

Duel Arena tax should be causing a larger uproar. If G/e tax would've come out when it was released originally I feel that maybe it would have been accepted.
