Your ass, they have no effect unless the child has bad private problems, mentally retarded, etc.

i played that game for 24 hours straight one time just killing people...i actually used that game as a stress reliever... was i relieveing stress the right way? some may think not but thats what i did... i killled people for fun on the game...why? because there was no consequence and, i knew the difference between a virtual man not being able to go home to his virtual family and support them...and a real life man not being able to do that (LOL).

and if they can show exactly how a serial killer chopped women up tied them in bags and threw them in the desert, with exact weapons and sometiems video feed on CNN...why not be able to blast a couple pixels to smitherines?

In response to this susceptibility question regarding FPS games as well as other violent video games, I would say that mood, stress, and events outside the game are the variables that can lead to one answer or another. Circumstances in which a gamer is being harassed in real life or is encountering rough waters so to speak in school can result in a negative affect on their behavior and mentality. On the flip side, positive outlooks on life that gamers posess can give them an immunity to any potentially negative effects that shooter games may have.

If your mind is so weak that it is influenced by games, then you shouldn't have a game system anywhere near you. MOST of us are mentally stable and know the difference between games and reality.

The video game itself does not give children motive to do these things, it just puts the idea of an option in their mind, and guess what? when they get mad they find these options in their mind and decide to act upon them.

The games have no affect unless you are mentally unstable.

those people are already mentaly unstable, i find a shooting game is a way to vent your frustrations without actually killing people.

From my point of view, I think "It's just a game". I would never see myself actually shooting someone or anything because I did it in a game. But, I don't know because I have heard of crazy stuff where people have attempted crazy things they saw in Video Games.

how is it fair to say a video game can change someones point of thought, everything effects a childs mind, video games are far from the worst, lets say you give a 13 year old kid a mod or admin on a site\ingame whatever, and then they lose it... loss has more effect on a person then a game itself.

Oh please, the only effect PROVEN to be instituted into children's brains is the use of vulgar slang and words. This is the only proven effect of shooter/crime video games. Effects such as violence are complete nonsense. They are nonsense because the child is only using a controller to shoot a gun, not a real gun. And if there are good parents, they would know what games to let their child play. So yes, language is affected by video games. But any other "effects" come down to the care of the child by the parents and the behaviour surrounding the child. Because the child's friends might be using the slang, and he/she could just pick up on it.

So please, do not say that a kid is bad because of video games, there are definately other causes in life.

Eh, kids...what can ya do? So i think I have shown that honestly, there is no effect except vulgar language. And even that is pretty god damn rare. So please, dont blame the games.

not neciaryily. the hospital were i live wont allow any R rated games. not because of maturity, but because alot of us hav trouble distinguishing between what is real and what isnt. eg my phycosis. if they had chance to test the person this topic refers to, im sure you would find he was affected by some sort of mental illness, therefore shouldnt of been playing the game at all.

I think shooters have no effect what so ever. If someone decides to shoot 20 people, you can't blame it on gta. Someone who does something like that always had intentions do kill.

So true, I've been argueing that point... I personally played GTA: San Andreas when I was 14, while, I grant you it's not a FPS game, it still can decieve ONLY the people with mental impairments. I've played it for 4 years, I have no urge to kill people. I just swear alot more -.-.

When Vice city game out wasn't there an increase in 'grand theft auto' crimes which are stealing cars and joy riding and many more. This means that it can affect older people aswell as younger. Don't quote me as i'm not 100% sure, i just remember hearing about it on the radio after Vice city was released.

If i play GTA it doesnt mean im going to go 'shoot up' my school or highjack a car or anything. This is just another right the goverment is trying to take from the citizens, its called censorship my friends...
