Have you bought an account on PlayerAuctions with insurance? Recieved no compensation? POST HERE

This thread is a discussion on the PlayerAuctions website, this is not a complaint. YET.

I want to discuss about PlayerAuctions "insurance" and if you have been affected.

Many people, including myself, purchased an account with insurance, and was told they would help you recover the account and if unable to they will award you the coverage amount, however many if not ALL received neither and are left without an account or the money.

Please post here if you have been affected, feel free to explain your story.

I will be using all the posts in this thread when I make a complaint, the problem is when 1 person complains of fraud nothing is done about it, but when hundreds of people have been affected then they will listen, I will be contacting a friend who is a lawyer and then seeking to press charges.

She won't charge me, in-fact good point, they use that to their advantage knowing nobody will press charges because it costs money.

Besides, this is BIG, if she thinks its big and I can make a case out of it then perhaps I can sue or at least have them charged with a crime, besides I live in the UK where legal support (lawyers) are free to me, it's purely revenge and maybe in the end everyone else will be compensated for their loses.

Remember Payment Protection Insurance? P.P.I? The banks had to pay it all back.

 

How are you comparing this to RPI lmao, its a blackmarket gaming website and you're buying 100% recoverable accounts: of course there will be problems.
Your lawyer friend also wouldn't appreciate you coming to her in hopes of chasing this 'revenge' as its a waste of her valuable time lol.
Just get into contact with PA directly if you haven't already - far more logical imo.

 

Well if you took 2 minutes of your time to google how "trusted" they are before buying anything from them, you wouldn't have to waste your time on this crap now. And i doubt there is even a single person that got refunded without being loud about it on all the platforms

 

Are you kidding me? They advertise on their website that all accounts purchased are protected, so me being a first time buyer and complete noob I go for the 1st link that shows up in Google thinking its the most trusted, it seemed a lot more appealing than trusting vouches on some forum from some people I don't know, being a business and all you end up trusting them a lot more!!!

 

Well you don't see scammers advertise "We're going to scam you!" and if what random website is advertising is more important to you than "vouches on some forum" i don't even know what to say to you anymore lol

 

You have way more protections buying an account on Sythe from a trusted user than PlayerAuctions. The fact is, Sythe actually has very strict rules for account sales and really emphasizes on protecting the buyer. PA is honestly financially incentivized to side with the seller, since they only profit from completed transactions. Sythe Disputes are moderated by people with no financial involvement in the transaction and therefore are much more likely to result in a fair resolution.

 

I’ve had well over 75 transactions on PlayerAuctions and can attest to the fact that as a buyer, their insurance is a scam. Everytime I’ve provided them with absolute proof of the account being recovered, they insist they need a confirmation from Jagex because they know this is impossible.

Never got a response from them. This has happened 4 times over the last few years on PA. I no longer buy accounts from there, but have them trained here by levelers. The whole PA system is a scam.

 

The insurance is definitely a scam. Also the assurance that any account sold on their site is somehow protected against scams is bullshit. It's just not feasible. Any original owner can recover a Runescape Account. Furthermore, there is no way to definitively prove anything relating to account recovery. I would love to see PA's guidelines on what evidence is necessary to prove an account is recovered and qualifies for "insurance".

The simple fact that this information is not publicly displayed on their website suggests they have no clear method for a customer to file a claim.

PA is fine for really basic transactions like in-game currency. That's pretty hard to screw up. However, anything like accounts require direct accountability from the seller. PA sets up their platform in a way that obfuscates responsibility since they act as a middleman. They put themselves in a position as mediator between buyer and seller, but account disputes are very difficult to mediate as a third party, especially by their staff who handle disputes across a wide variety of games and do not have the training necessary to handle a Runescape Account Dispute.

Like I said before, buy from a trusted seller on Sythe. Their reputation will be your collateral, and you know the Sythe Staff will take an unbiased look at your report.

It's funny too because PlayerAuctions can avoid responsibility for account sales in a way which no other user on Sythe could possibly do. They are able to skirt the site's rules for account sales by acting as the third party, despite claiming to "insure" certain sales. Any other user on Sythe who pulled this would get a perm ban. @PlayerAuctions though, they're allowed to keep on trucking!

 

I have for you here a link to PlayerAuctions support section on their website, they do state they need an email/message from the game developer.

What evidence can I send for my dispute?

Notice how the support section is not game-specific, so all the other games on PA have the same dispute process: Contact the game publisher.

PA seems to not know that (or they do know):
a) Data Protection laws / protection of players privacy prevent obtaining this information.

b) The screenshot of the email from the game publisher could easily be faked, so the seller is now at risk.

 

Yeah PlayerAuctions Insurance is a massive scam,

Not only can i attest I've personally lost 4 accounts with insurance uncompensated. The worst part is they will intentionally mess you around until you get sick of chasing them up or till your "protection" expires. They won't reply to emails for weeks on end and when they do it is very generic responses which makes minimum if any progress on the status of the dispute, they will ask you to contact Jagex asking if the origional owner has access to account as they know it's near impossible and even if you manage to provide them with this they will them further stall your case to the point where your insurance expires and then they can say you no longer have protection on the account so they can't do anything. (3 of my 4 disputes lasted over a year before they told me the nonsense about it expiring other dispute i just dropped as i could see they were doing the same thing)

As stated above you're 100x better just paying a higher price to buy an account from a trusted Sythe user and at least here there is somewhat repercussions if the account is recovered.

 

PlayerAuctions refunded me by providing a coupon which I can use on their site, a $122 coupon (full amount of my order), they did this because I provided them with proof from the game publisher and probably because I made a scene of sythe (hehe it worked, didnt it?)

I bought $122 worth of rs gold and sold it for $91 so I lost about a quarter of my payment, I consider this a win.

Hey @PlayerAuctions do you know what happens when right click a webpage and click "inspect element"? It's a developer tool which lets you edit the source code, so you could for example change a forum post orrr an email, and then screenshot it for some fool to believe.

 

I'm glad they saw your thread on Sythe. You were most definitely refunded because of this thread you made here. I'd prefer you not delete this regardless of how much PA offers, instead you can live with the satisfaction that you have saved many other people from buying a future-recovered recovered.

My 2 cents; buy from a trusted user on sythe. Won_gold for example, ex-staff, people that use Sythe as their job. They would never scam if they use this website as their main income.

 

Can't remember who said it; but the reason they dont get banned is because they do not trade on sythe. The account is merely used for customer service and a point of contact if people are having issues contacting them through their own site.

 

Yea I sent them indisputable evidence via PM here and they still claim it’s not enough.

 

You won't get anywhere trying to resolve it in private, you need it to become visible to everyone to hurt their reputation or else they wont care
