    Vegetarians? Why?

My friend's brother has recently decided to become a vegetarian. I wondered why he did it. I asked him and he responded "Because of the way we treat animals, don't you think it's bad?" Personally I do think that sometimes we treat animals bad, but is it bad when a cheetah kills a gazelle? The cheetah needs to eat to survive, so do we.
So I wanted to know, why do vegetarians feel that it is necessary to be..well vegetarians! When you eat vegetables do you think that they are not living beings? They are. You might say "They don't have feelings! It's different!" Well...its not, killing is killing.

    Vegetarians? Why?

I am a vegetarian for two reasons: health and ethical
Humans no longer need to eat meat to survive, I figure, why cause unnecessary suffering?
Vegetables have no nervous system. And I do need to eat something ;)

    Vegetarians? Why?

Just because you become a vegetarian, it doesn't mean that people will stop treating animals cruelly. Hence, it's almost pointless to become a vegetarian because animals will continue to be killed.

I am not a vegetarian. Animals are lesser beings with no rationality. They are walking steaks. Why shouldn't we eat them?

We could easily live off organic food instead of meat, I'm no vegiterian but i don't think it's good that we eat other living souls.

they are not rational, I agree, but they do have feelings, and if animal looses a relative thats an animal to a hunter or something, it's like us loosing a close friend/relative to a murderer pretty much.

We could. I feel like eating meat, though.

Souls are a fallacy. They are arbitrary - there is no evidence for them, or against them. Therefore, the burden of proof is upon the believer. When you have proven the existence of souls to me, and that they are contained in all animals, I will consider your argument.

Why should I care about animal's feelings?

I agree with the souls things, and meat is good.

as for that, well, why should a murderer care about your feelings if he kills your family and you?

    Vegetarians? Why?

They do it because they believe that its not worth killing or missharming the animal for their own enjoyment.

First, his actions as applied to rational beings are highly illogical.

Second, he doesn't have to care about my feelings. What he should care about is the retribution of society and myself.

    Vegetarians? Why?

health? its not healthy to only eat vegitables. vegitarians need to eat a bucket of tablets to compensate. and serioulsy there isnt anything unhealthy about eating a steak.

why course unecessary suffering? meat is a necessity in our diet otherwise u wont be very healthy. its not our fault that thats the way mother nature is, kill to survive.

and a dead peice of meat doesnt have a nervous system either. people dont chew on animals while there alive.

    Vegetarians? Why?

Vegans/vegetarians are attention seekers, for the most part.

Most don't care about actually doing it because they thing it is wrong, but because their friends do it, or they want to mimic somebody else.

People have been eating meat for thousands of years, why should we stop now?

It makes no sense. There is NO nutritional gain from becoming a vegetarian, and seeing as how we NEED protein its unwise to become a vegetarian without some kind of nutritional "booster."

If you look at how a Lion eats, does HE care about being a vegetarian? NO! Its very simple, the only reason we care is because we have OUTSIDE INFLUENCES. A Lion remains carnivorous because he needs to to survive, not because of choice.

    So, all wrapped up;
No, its not important to be a vegan/Vegetarian
Yes, it is OK to be a vegan/vegetarian
No, people who don't choose to be vegan/vegetarian shouldn't be treated like they have no values because we eat meat.

    Vegetarians? Why?

    Vegetarians are hypocrites.

If they wanted to, they could help out the world and animals much more than they do by only not eating meat, but they wont once its too inconveniencing. They could; for example, build their own garden and live solely off that, stop using electricity, ride a bike to work/school.
But they wont, why? There is no benefit to them.

    Hence, Vegetarians are hypocrites.

    Vegetarians? Why?

Im not a vegetarian solely because it doesnt matter if I am or not.

You go to the store and there's meat on the shelf. Read that again. IT'S ALREADY THERE. Whether I'm a vegetarian or not, the animal is dead and is in front of me. I might as well eat it. Eating a vegetable instead isn't going to bring the piece of meat in front of me back to life.

And I can see it now. No, me not eating it won't make a difference. My couple hundred a year won't make a difference to a multi billion dollar market. Ever. Period. Stop lying to yourselves. Whatever you don't eat, somebody else will.

Being a vegetarian off of principle is a waste of time and, for lack of a better word, stupid. You're not helping anything, and you aren't morally superior to anybody.

    Vegetarians? Why?

    Vegetarians fail miserably.

It's a dog-eat-dog world out there. Kill to survive. Survival of the fittest. In terms of species, humans are indeed the fittest; not because of brawn, but of intelligence.

Why would I care about the animal's "feelings"? It doesn't know shit from bricks. It doesn't know it's fate, and it certainly doesn't know that it's dead. The way they're killed is almost instant, too, so you can't say it isn't "humane" (not that I could care less how they die).

To base things on the nutritional and lifestyle side, Vegetarians are usually the following:

commonly anorexic (note, ex-girlfriend and co.),
they usually take bucketloads of vitamins, protein pills, and other drugs and supplements to make up for the nutrients they _don't_ consume in meat,
use electricity which in turn burns fossil fuel,
drive a car (which also burns fossil fuel),
buy groceries (which contributes to the meat-eating economy),
go fishing; causing "unneeded suffering among animals",
protest violently, which goes against their demands for "fair rights to all creatures",

    Should I continue?

Honestly, it isn't being vegetarian that pisses me off about people, its the way they bitch at you for being omnivorous.

I feel the exact same way as you, just because you don't eat meat isn't going to influence me not to.

    Vegetarians? Why?

    I'm a vegetarian.

Personally, whenever I hear someone say that it's wrong for people to eat animals, I point at them and laugh. Animal rights activists freak me out.

I'm a vegetarian because I don't like meat, and my diet is a whole lot healthier without all that deep-fried pig crap people can't seem to live without.

It's not wrong to eat meat, we were meant to do so. But as humans, we have the ability to choose what we eat for whatever reasons, no matter how stupid.
