How to be better than everyone at solo fortnite

Tips from some1 good at games pretty much and just started fortnite and has a bunch of wins blahblah sorry this ended up longer than i meant it to be. If you're top 500 OW hitscan or proj, Top CSGO or etc similar, follow all of these tips and you will be winning games immediately. This is stuff I wish I'd known and have picked up so far.

• Rebind buildings to things very close to wasd, should be natural keys. I use side mouse button, Q, and F.
• When in doubt, build. When in doubt where to build, up. You will win.
• Play on pc lol
• You need high enough dpi to be able to 360 in 1/2 a second, but keep it low enough to aim properly. Bigger mousepad if needed.
• Turbo building on, grass off, aim assist off.
• Don't land at whatever location is 40 man meta. A moron with a shotgun > good player with a revolver.
• More on that, let the idiots kill each other. You'll often find picking every fight with noobs will get you pinched by someone more often, which is very bad.
• Run to the right. Counterclockwise. You will win EVERY fight. Epic's stupid and doesn't have free camera or shoulder swap, that means if you are behind a wall and someone is in front of you to your right, you will be able to shoot at their head before they can see anything other than your elbow. Master this and you'll be able to kill multiple players without taking damage.
• Always build. If you are in threat of taking damage from ANY source, BUILD! A goal should be to take no damage.
• Aim. Play STW to learn spread, it also drops vbucks like crazy. If you're good you can get 3k in the first 2 days.
• Shotguns are everything in this game. Inside of 20 feet pump, inside of 5 feet tact. Have pump tact switch ready, this is where you fire an inital pump and then quickly swap to tactical and spam until you win. If there's even a slight break, back to pump.
• Break things in buildings, mine trees, mine rocks. Good players build a lot because they're focused on taking no damage. Pop a shot, reset with building, find the angle, repeat until fight is won.
• Don't turn graphics up any higher than what drops you below 120 fps or so. If you can't, get as close as you can with epic draw. EPIC draw distance is required!!!
• Watch ninja and play like him. Other streamers as well, the tsm bois, etc. Don't forget to support them for their help.
• Fortify your ramps. When you're building up, you'll typically want to build two wide, or at least fortify with a vertical wall in front of the ramp, this prevents it from behing shot down as easily (gravity applies to buildings once disconnected from the ground, they break = fall damage/rip.
• Watch your back, don't get pinched. Play with a tactical mindset, this is the hunger games. One of the worst things that can happen is two people attacking you from multiple directions, even if they are extremely bad you are very unlikely to survive if you're out in the open and have no means of escape.
• DO NOT USE SCROLL WHEEL for weapon changes! This is a bad habit, break it immediately, even turn it off! You need to remember what slots are what keys and put the same things in the same slots every game. This way you'll be able to switch to the correct weapon immedately after building without a break or checking your inventory.
• I recommend tact / pump / AR / sniper,rpg,etc / sheild. If you're good, shields are more important than health to keep around. Gear yourself to be ready at all ranges at all times.
• If you sprint straight, jump, and then turn while you're in the air, you can check your surroundings while taking minimal damage. It's annoying. VERY annoying, but you must travel like this at all times. Bob and weave, jump, and check for people around you. First contact is VERY important. You see them first, you get ADS and fire before they are ready and you're almost guarenteed a hit, or a burst if you're carrying. This gives you a far better chance to win the fight.
• Check for traps if you're in buildings. They're sneaky and will destroy you.
• Relax. Always relax. Every time I'm in a fight i'm constantly re-evaluating between shots. Is it time to build? Shoot? Heal? Keep a calm mindset, remember the basics, and you're set.
• Watch the outside of the storm for bushes. These are players either using the bush item to have a bush around them, someone hiding in an actual bush, or generally just players who would do such things camping in a shed or behind a mountain between the storm. They're of very little threat, but don't forget to check for them. On that note, you'll generally find that in the last 5 solo players 1-2 are at minimum, bushes. Don't get pinched, the second it drops to 3 alive the bush is waiting for the last two to fight and come in with some cheesy garbage to have his chance at finally securing what he thinks is an actual win.
• Don't be afraid to leave a fight, but at the same time be aggressive if you know you have the advantage.

That's the opposite of being better than anyone, and it's that reason why nobody cares about wins, just kdr.
OT - I've never died to a bush last 5, killed hundreds.

Update: Got 5 top 2 finishes lat night no W yet but way better nonetheless. Learning how to panic build helped me vastly and finally learned how to control spread.

 

@Blade im struggling on when people push me with stairs during a 1v1 usually losing, thoughts and help?

 

ok well i just got my first solo win

to help others reading this thread the most things that helped me improve and get kills are
-moving right while shooting
-pump +tact/smg for tons of damage
-build up and double your stairs that you build for reinforcement
-the jump and look left and right for enemys

block them, build up higher than them. If you lose the initial stair height battle, block it off, reset and get high ground.

 

some awesome tips here i have to say! im not exactly a noob at fortnite anymore but %100 some tips here ill be using and as for the bush guys that is exactly spot on legit everygame the final two is a normal guy tryna play properly and a full blown camper hahaha
