[DENIED] Suggestion About sigs.

Here's a guide for people who know nothin:
1. Create your sig
2. Preview your sig
3. Begin Gyazo of sig, drag to encompass the whole thing, it'll tell you the dimensions
4. If dimensions are greater than 650x350, you're violating the rules.

I'd wager 99% of people with meaningful sigs on Sythe use Gyazo...or should. Take about as much time to use it as it would to read from Sythe that your sig is too big.

So, no support. Not that there's anything wrong with this, but it'll just be another thing on the list of things to implement that'll hold up other things that could be of more benefit.

 

You wouldn't have to read any rules and what you suggest sounds tedious. ABM is proposing that it automatically stops you from creating too large a signature, much like your profile picture.

Tedious to hit one keyboard command and drag? Literally two seconds, same amount of time as it takes for Sythe to tell your your sig is too big.

Yeah I don't think the idea he has is bad. It's just such a trivial thing for people to check themselves that at most it should be put on a backburner pile of updates so as to not hold up other updates we are waiting on or that might come up in the future that are more pressing. So I support the feature existing, but I don't support taking time away to implement it from the better suggestions and things we've had.

 

Firstly, yes i read what you wrote (why the attitude?). I just think that what you propose is backward, and having it automated (like it already is for profile pictures?) is a simple solution. The majority of people don't know what the maximum signature dimensions are, or where to find this ruling, and further, measuring it out via a third party website simply is tedious.

But yes, its not such a big deal, more just an easy fix imo.

 

I support this suggestion. It should automatically disallow the sig to be added if to big. When you get a warning for a signature it puts you off the site

 

You made a couple points that suggested you had at most glanced at my response before replying to it, but I guess not.

The third party software enables you to solve this issue with one keyboard command. I’m not saying it’s an ideal solution, but it’s as simple as any get and doesn't take any more time than if it were implemented on the website and it’s possible implementing a fix for this trivial “issue” would take as much time as say, colored thread titles for donators, which is a much better update

 

Seems like a basic thing that should've been implemented. Support.

 

I agree with @Andy Samberg , it would have been implemented in the first place if it was the easiest thing to implement, and what if people have a sig too large right now? The system then has to override and delete their current sig? It isn't as easy as you would like it to be, sorry no support.

;Replace all sigs > (1000x1000) with (so sig big dick.jpg)
Pretty simple.

 

I support this idea, I think @Sythe could get this done fairly easily? Maybe there is more to it, I am not sure. But an automated system as to where it would block you from submitting your signature if it was to big, sounds awesome!

If this is easy to implement, I'm 100% for it - it's one more thing not to worry about. We won't have to monitor it and others won't have to be confused why they did something wrong.

 

I disagree with @Andy Samberg and think his Gyazo suggestion is dumb.

Making a signature hard capped would be pretty easy to do I think. Therefor I support this idea.

 

Support. There is no downside to this and it's less work for moderators.

 

If it's easy to implement, sure. Less work for us + Less infractions for others = win.

 

Support! Very usefull and indeed less work for the staff members.

 

Takes me one second to do what @Andy Samberg suggested and what I do all the time to see that @Champ 's sig is too big.



This is not a good use of the already limited time we have Sythe / Matthew working on mundane suggestions like this.

+1 a cap should be put. Current sigs should be kept the same and if it isn’t changed within a few months of the rule change you get infracted. Will make a market for Sythe accounts with big sigs :^}
