Just ordered ram.Will it speed my PC up?

I just bought 2 gigs of ram of off Crucial.com.Heres link to the exact ram I ordered.

At the moment I only have 256 MB of ram...Computer can get quite laggy at times.
I also have Pentium 4 CPU, and 2.80 GHZ.
So any body know if this ram will speed up my PC? Thanks.

Depends on how good your graphics card is. Also, you sure your motherboard or whatever can handle 2 gigs of ram?

 

On the site I used the memory wizard...I put in my PC and everything and it showed me that ram.And I have took the casing off and I do have 2 slots for ram.So I guess I can fit in 2 gigs?

 

That will speed it up a lot, if you want better peformance in games though, you need a good video card.

 

you could have just opened up your pc and took out the ram lol, brought it to store and get another one

 

I tried to get RAM for my computer but I took it into a shop, and they tried many different rams and they didn't work so I needed to order a specific one. Did you check if it would work?

 

They had this thing called a memory wizard and you picked the brand of PC you have and the exact model and it showed the memory that fit so I ordered 2 gigs.So I'm guessing it will fit?

 

Yes your computer should speed up significantly.

You defiantly needed that ram to play WoW but you will probable need to get a new graphics card.

I dont know your exact specs but DDR2 RAM is the most common i'm almost certain it will work with your computer.

 

It might not work...i'm assuming your computer is a dell.
You need pc2700 ram, but i might be wrong.

A major advantage of upgrading RAM is being able to run multiple programs at once.
You'll notice a huge difference between your 256MB and 2G.

 

RAM is Random Access Memory. RAM is only allocated to programs that are being executed, and does not necessarily mean that it will speed your computer up. However, considering 256MB is a VERY old standard, yes it will.

You will though, need a decent CPU and Graphics card. No point having excess RAM if your CPU can't run fast enough to allocate it.
