Video Recording software / editing software?

I'll be getting back into video making here in a few days, getting a professional designer to put together work for me too. the last time I touched a video recorder and a video editor was years ago.

What's the best quality video recorder to use ? Then, what's the best editing software to use, that doesn't have the controls of operating a space ship.

I honestly don't do much but OBS seems to be the way to go

OBS is really good and another good choice is camtasia but it's not free. So you have to be pirate if you don't wanna buy it.

 

I used to edit with sony vegas. I thought it was a good program.
Idk what others there are that are good.

 

Thanks to all the replies; I used to use Camtasia as well, it was fairly decent. I'll look into all the programs again.
