    Best Anti Virus?

Same, i'm a prominent member of bodybuilding.com and have been told that Malwarebytes is the best anti-virus software by multiple people and i've been using it ever since

Always used AVG free and found it really good for it being free. Alerts of anything dodgy straight away.

Malware bytes and windows defender, you should have no issues. CC cleaner if you need some extra cleaning

This site tests all the latest offerings every other month (automatically checks for latest exploits, threats and definitions):

    Their current top 3:

    1. AhnLab (this is Enterprise software)
    2. Avast
    3. AVG

I don't use any AV at all - I use Qubes OS Linux distro - It uses a hypervisor to link several virtual machines together therefore creating an insanely secure workstation. Then I run a VM with windows on which has Avast and MWB.

The only anti-virus methods that I'm utilizing (and have ever utilized) are:

    • My brain - if something looks dodgy and lacks a user-base or reputation, don't download it. I personally *try* to only install open-source software. I probably won't bother reading the code, but others probably have and would *probably* warn of any malicious intent.
    • I use Linux - Either TAILS or ArchLinux for everything aside from Windows-native software development (in which case, I'll use Windows 7). Here's a chart representing the proportions of viruses targeted towards different operating systems:
Note that this image is really out-dated, don't believe that Windows 10/8.1/8/7 fall into the category of "others", because they definitely don't.

Overall, common-sense coupled with being a Linux user is arguably the best anti-virus solution available. :)

I do not use any antivirus software. You will not get infected if you use common sense.

AVG and Norton are the best I'm pretty sure. AVG has heaps if free trials and likes to notify me whenever it blocks a suspicious ad on a website.

I personally like windows defender, but your brain is the most powerful. Sophos free is not too bad. Sophos is highly used in the corporate environment and is just ONE line of defense against hackers. There is a reason why large companies choose certain AV companies.

Antimalwarebites has an amazing free program. The only downside is if you're running the free version you have to manually start the scan and there's not firewall or background protection. Used in conjunction with something like Windows Defender it's amazing though

I'm a network technician specializing in security.

    Malwarebytes is my go-to, (anti-malware, not anti-virus)
Kaspersky is a very solid program too that the hydro company I worked at uses.

    Good: MalwareBytes, Sophos, Kaspersky

    Alright: Norton, Windows Defender

    AVOID:
    Avast, AVG, Bitdefender
