    Athiesm, Sad and Depressing?

Well I just really thought hard of how it would be and its a pretty sad and bleak future if what they say is true that there is no goal no meaning to life just an accident that happened and nothing more its always been and always will be. But did you ever think of what happens when you die?
You basically disappear, I'm not talking about like "oooh I left my impression on the world" But really what happens to YOU. You basically just cease to exist. What about your loved ones? When they die you will never ever ever see them again and be in their presence. They disappear into nothingness, along with everyone else.
Now I think thats kinda a sad thought, what are your opinions?

THIS IS NOT A RELIGIOUS OR OTHER DEBATE JUST THIS TOPIC ONLY.
I wanna hear from a intellectual person such as Shreadderbeam on this.

Why would it be depressing? I mean, when you die you go in the ground, you get burnt to ashes, etc. You really cant help it.

Not to mention you can't be depressed if you don't exist.

I understand why you feel it may be depressing, although people cannot be made to believe in God simply because they want to go to Heaven.

Quite frankly, I am an agnostic realist, although I'd be much more tempted to fall into Atheism rather than Theism. Either way, I lead an exuberant, happy, and fantastic life. I tend not to think about death, as we may as well enjoy the time that we have alive. We are capable of leading happy lives.

I know I'm not saying this to make some one believe in God or in a God/Goddess/Gods
But I mean think though it would suck knowing that when your parents, brothers, sisters, grandma, grandpa die you will Never EVER see them again other then the funeral so basically for the person who is dead its not bad you just don't exist anymore but still...kinda seems like a sad thought? I'm Christan so I wanted to know the outlook from an Atheists eyes or whoever believes this to be true. Cause this to me seems kinda like not having a hope? I'm not going to force my religion on anyone at anytime I can suggest it and defend it but thats all I do I came to realize that the ones who do that actually self sabotage themselves by putting down others making them not want to and giving god himself a bad name because of what some of these people do to it and intemperate it.

But so basically you just don't exist? like you...lol its hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that i wont see hear or anything after that or be conscious. Some people say it would be like sleeping but I say it wouldn't for the fact that you don't exist so you cant sleep and dream cause your just gone.

this could be proved wrong because im pretty sure that no one knows what happened after death so any religon could be considered sad and depressing, but through lies

The truth is often less glamorous than the fiction most people like to put their faith in.

Once you know the truth, you see everything else for the lies they are. The truth is what sets you and me apart from the masses. The truth will set you free.

Dude, athiest doesn't mean u don't believe in god, it means u just weren't baptised and worship anyone. Also, there have been 42 million cases of people who were brought back to life through medical means seconds after they died and almost every single one of them said they saw heaven.

It can be a bit depressing when you're just coming down from the hilarious belief that you're going to live forever, I suppose. Then, you realize that this is how it always was, you haven't lost anything, you've just discovered the truth.

Not really depressing - I just get on with it.

You get born, you die some 70-100 years later - its a cycle. So what if I never get to see my grandparents again? They're gone, which was inevitable since birth. I'd rather not waste my time mourning to be honest.

Shredder, you really are hillarious =D

    Edit:

To the guy I quoted, not existing is not a sad thought, because when you don't exist, you cannot be sad.

    Athiesm, Sad and Depressing?

Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is the most potent psychadelic drug known to man. This drug is created naturally by the body and is released during REM sleep causing you to dream, and released in massive doses when you die. So those 42 million people just tripped out and came back to tell about their psychadelic trip. Its basically nature's way to make death less painful.
