Flu shot..mandatory?

Okay, so this is about my state (Ohio) I believe this is the only state that is doing it, i could be wrong.

Anyways, i heard on my news the other day that flu shots could be mandatory.

age 4-18

So my question for you, should it be mandatory?

 

Ohio certainly isn't the only state doing it .. I went to America on a college trip a few months ago and Louisiana has a mandatory flu shot as well.

I think that the flu shot should certainly be mandatory! Unless people want to die .. :[

 

No, thats ridiculous. There is a small percentage (20-30) that the shot will even work. Not to mention that would be wasting shots for the older people who actually want and NEED them.

Usually people 12-30, if they get the flu, will have no problem getting over it within a week or so. Older people can DIE from the flu. Now whether they want to get it or not is up to them but making people do it will lead to a shortage of flu shots for the people who can actually die from it.

 

People who do not want the flue shot should just have to live with the concequences.

 

I choose not to get a flu shot because I know being a 16 year old kid who is in perfect physical condition I will get over it. I choose to sacrifice maybe getting sick for a few days in order to save the life of an older person who might not be able to get one due to a shortage.

No, if people want the shot, let them get it.

There is no point in forcing people to get a shot.

We already do force people to get shots. You cannot join a public school until you have had a series of shots.

 

They need to be forced, in case you spread them. How do you think we stopped smallpox?

Well, funny thing about smallpox is that is was stopped..but then we stored it in a fridgerator in Russia i believe. Then it came up missing. So, it could still be around, and waiting to be released for biological warfare.

 

I have no idea who told you this, but samples were kept for research in a place far more secure than a "fridgerator[sic] in Russia". The places we keep smallpox etc. are protected against earthquakes, bomb attacks, even atomic bomb attacks.

 

There was actually a book written about it.

I do believe that it is real, it may be fiction.

Young people can't die from the flu, thats why its important to keep mandatory flu shots to the older people in the community.

In Australia the parents decide what vaccinations you do and don't get, until you're legally an adult of course. Yes they should be mandatory though - I don't see why needles are scary, and yes vaccinations save lives.

 

Australia has so many compulsary needles for babies and shit. And flu/hep B shots etc are given at schools every couple of years. The government spends a crapload on it all.

And Swan, most needles ARE compulsory.

 

Who are you to interfere with a family's wishes? If I don't want to get a flu shot, or I don't want my kids to get one, I'll damned well do as I please.
