MechScape & FunOrb by Jagex Ltd. [Official]

People have been spreading rumors about "MechScape" and "FunOrb", but nobody really has the answers. Well, hopefully I can answer them. Today, Jagex Ltd. has released FunOrb, a website which contains many unique minigames. This website will allow you to login with your RuneScape account information, yet members of RuneScape do not count as members of FunOrb. Currently it costs $3 to join members.

MechScape
Yes, there will be a future released MMO by Jagex, called Mechscape.


"MechScape is Jagex’s upcoming futuristic Java-based space MMORPG, based on the technologies developed for RuneScape. It might be inspired by their 1999 multiplayer strategy game Cyber Wars, which featured Mechanoids, BattleMechs and Aliens. People who worked on MechScape have said that it will contain a few hundred vehicles, and that they are “trying to find ways that we can take the genre forward in terms of story telling and player grouping, while also developing cool missions and minigames”. Its release date is unknown and any site claiming to have a public beta or private beta sign-up is a scam and should be reported to Jagex immediately. Mechscape and FunOrb are probably set to launch in 2008, based on what Jagex stated in an interview about releasing two new titles around this time." -MechScape World

Horrible graphics and it's so easy. I played the soldier one, you don't do anything.

Yes, MechScape will be a futuristic version of RuneScape. Wondering why the friend list on RuneScape has changed to show "Runescape" before every single friend who's online? Well, it's because now with the new system Jagex is setting up, your friends could be playing MechScape, which would be shown in your RuneScape friend list, if they happen to be on.

You all can't wait for mechscape just remember as jagex have seen from runescape they would have the rwt methods in place.

 

mechscape will be like rs, cept with better graphics, ur a mech, and lots of different things to do, there will still be skills

 

Think about it- all of the crappy updates to RS were created to pave the way for Mechscape. Jagex is meshing it so closely with Runescape in an attempt to draw over RS fans by making the two games interchangable.

I believe that Mechscape could be the reasoning behind the RWTing updates. In fact, I believe there's a chance that Mechscape will not have any RWT barriers- making it an instant hit with the hundreds of thousands of RWTers chased away from RS in the past few monthes.

well id didnt like fun orb...but well thank you for telling us all this...ill test mechscape when its released..

 

Jagex is going to slowly die out if they keep focusing on inbrowser MMO's, I'm not saying they're going to go out of bussiness, they have a ton of money. But after a while when games get super realistic, all they'll have is RS and Mechspace, some crappy inbrowser stuff with around 200 polygon count, Funorb isn't really that great either, www.xgenstudios.com is a much better site if you're looking for in browser games.

 

I'm wondering why they need so many sites like that?

 

runescape needs to upgrade runescape not make new games..
