Well, I've seen TDD's great layouts, so I thought I'd try it too.
I've never dealt with web based programming languages, so I have no clue where to start.
Let's say I want to make a photo gallery.
My question is that what web based programming/markup languages I need to know and on what level to make it look good, and fully functional? With all the features like move mouse on the picture, picture gets bigger etc.
And are there any good programs that make it simpler to code, or put the thing together.

Thanks in advance whoever can help.

You'll need (X)HTML, CSS (Not necessary; though can save a lot of time), Javascript

Or, if you want to use Photoshop and slice (the easier and quick way), then just make your layout in PS and slice it. Granted, to do this, you will need some HTML knowledge.

But at least slicing will give you the layout, and that's all you can ask for. I'm horrible at making layouts in tables. I ALWAYS screw up and it turns out weird, so these help A LOT.

Hope I helped a little, PM me for any more help you need or questions.

I ought to kill you for that comment in bold. and again for the italics.

To make websites you'll need knowledge of (x)HTML, and to make good webpages, you'll need to know how to use CSS properly as well. for an image gallery you'd need javascript.

TDD can make some sexy shit.
Remember one thing when making webpages, and thats that all webbrowsers are different, and your webpages need to cater to each browser.

My advice, learn CSS, html, php, photoshop, flash and action acript.

Javascript is good, but hard to learn when learning everything else, but it will be able to later enhance your site so I suggest learning that too.

I personally only know html and php.
I know basics of css but I still need google for help haha.
Photoshop and flash are the best things to hapen to me haha.

I hope I helped, I will have my business email set up by tomorrow, so friday maybe, add [email protected] to your msn ;)

Edit: you can also use php for a gallery ;)

Where's the italics? In the quote it's all italicized?

What do you have against Photoshop? It's quick and easy for a beginner. I phail @ coding layouts, and div's, they always come out wrong. Then I said HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

The problem isn't Photoshop. The problem is the slicing tool. The slicing tool creates TABLES, using them to put the page together. Just so you know, the <table> tags were not meant for styling, but rather, displaying organized information, what table generally does.

If your divs come out wrong, then I suggest you look at some tutorials to help you.

    http://www.sebastiansulinski.co.uk/web_design_tutorials/css/three_column_layout.php
    http://www.subcide.com/tutorials/csslayout/index.aspx

    Blah blah blah

Stay away from tables. As tempting as they may be, CSS is the way to go.

I see what you mean. Thanks a lot.

    But here's the problem w/ Div's:

It is difficult to get accustomed to everybody's screen resolution size. Using Tables, you can nice and easily display your web page using %'s, so all the proportions are good and all that.

PS: You nest the div's? I never really did that. It's a good idea. And you close off the div's as you go from top-bottom, left-right on your web page? Isn't it smarter though just to do one div at a time? Would the CSS parameters get mixed up w/ each other?
