I am interested in some kind of air guns. Do these things actually shoot good or do they just make a retard noise? Do the BB's/pellets actually do some kind of damage or do they just get caught in the wind and blow away lol?
I also hate that gay orange tip, I know its required but is it possible to take that shit off?
I honestly am just looking for something with some kind of realistic feel to it. Probly mostly for target practice.

Paint ball has to be more realistic than airsoft.

    Also Paintball is more fun..

    No pain no game.

Paintballs guns just explode on impact and make a mess. Not very good for target practice. Paintball is played because its easy to tell who has been hit, considering I would be doing more target practice then that, then airsoft is the way to go for both damage and realism.

Many militarys use airsoft guns to get the most realistic feel in training.

If you are using a proper grade paintball gun they are not that bad in terms of accuracy, and since modern warfare has changed from the standard "front-line" to more of a FOF (force on force) and house-to-house battlefield paintball is used quite commonly to replace the old MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) system of military training. The military does not use paintball or air-soft to improve accuracy, they use live rounds; Paintball is used to improve tactics.

Yeah but what fun is shooting for realism if it doesn't feel some what like it. I have no clue how realistic paintball guns sound and shoot but so far I have my eyes on the MP5 gas blowback airsoft gun. Doesn't sound retarded and the blowback adds some sort of realism.

So I guess the key factors for me are
    -Look
    -Feel
    -Sound

Although pellet guns are starting to look very good for target practice.

If your looking for realism, then you should probably go with an airsoft gun, however there are not nearly as many airsoft fields as there are paintball fields. Paintball guns do not sound much like a real gun, however neither do airsoft (I'd say airsoft wins on that one). In terms of design realism, airsoft would win, and in terms of realistic feel, well.... I'd have to give it to airsoft, as paintball guns have the hopper which loses points. Paintball guns will give some kickback, but you have to realize that kickback is proportional to the weight of the round being dispensed. Since paintballs and bbs are much lighter than a lead bullet, neither will provide the same kickback.

They shoot good if you get a decent one, some of the sniper rifles go about 500fps and even the normal 300fps ones can do 50 to 60 meters if you have things like the hop done right.

They can do damage up close, not as much as a paintball but its on automatic so a lot more hits occur. wear goggles whenever using them, you don't want your eyes going 'squish'. As for caught in the wind - yeah, a bit. Bit if its windy just use heavier ammo and that'll sort most of the problem out.

If you want something realistic for target practice then go for a springer sniper rifle, or look at a couple hundred for a decent Classic Armies AEG.

not interested in the paintball v airsoft argument, which ever you prefer is your own business and frankly they both have good and bad sides to them. Go with the one you enjoy and if anyone wants to dickwave offer them a nice cup of warm paint to get them to shut up.

Yeah I am open for any suggestions I really am unexperienced in both airsoft and paintball so I appreciate everyones views on it. However you are right I have not even seen a airsoft field but I think airsoft tends to be a thing here where you just go to an open space with some friends since you don't need to worry about paint.

Say if I wanted just target shooting. Would a pellet gun be good? Judging by what ive seen they can do some decent destruction on targets.

the airsoft guns are useless from 20 ft away they blow away inn the wind but playing a game in your room is fun (don't ask). There are some good ones that use co2 but they might hurt a lil (break skin?).

I think I am just interested in just target practice for now so I think just a air rifle will be best since they shoot pellets that penetrate a lot more then the plastic BB's. I am looking into the Beretta Cx4 storm but how loud are air rifle guns? Is it going to be loud enough that I won't be able to shoot it unless im out and away from people? In other words I wouldn't be able to shoot it inside or in backyard without someone calling the cops lol?

The most realistic airsoft gun is probably a Co2 powered pistol with recoil. They are around 100 bucks give or take 10 dollars.
