It's not that hard for students to go through teachers desks and what not, maybe if the professor had a strap on.

 

The reason these shooting happen is because of social exclusion. When a kid is socially excluded from conversation and ignored by everyone, they usually freak out easily. The shooter in this case was probably socially excluded and just found out that he was rejected from an internship or a job and freaked out and went on a shooting rampage.

When I transferred highschools in the middle of junior year, I experienced social seclusion, and it was the worst thing I have ever experienced. The littlest things made me so pissed off and angry. When you are socially excluded, you are just like a ticking time bomb. So there needs to be something done about this. Gun control laws will not do anything except intice the troubled kid to try harder to get a gun or use another form of weapon.

 

He was also on some form of medication, which he suddenly stopped taking in the last few weeks.

Do you realize how much easier it will be for future school shooters to get a hold of guns if every teacher had them? And then what happens if the teacher is depressed and freaks out? Just lock the door, take out your gun, and kill every student in your class.

 

Yea your right. Its never the bully. Always the quiet one at the back. But I dont know of any way that we can combat this. I live in the UK I go shooting all the time. Tbh im quite handy with a 12gauge shotty. My dad owns a gun. If I wanted I could quiet easily walk into school with my shotty loaded up. I think I would take atleast 10mins for the armed response to get to the school, since in the UK normal police officers dont carry firearms.

 

Thing is this kid had friend and had won awards from his college, but he'd been on soem edication + was into violence and its efects

 

Why would the shooter want to do this...?

 

Well I feel sorry for the ones who didn't do anything..and a lot of shootings have been happening in Illinois.

I read on ninemsn.com about it and it said he was a well-mannered and liked popular student which no one had a problem with What a waste of a good life :/

 

Imagine if the government had done something after Columbine? How much would be prevented?

I believe the shooting trend is based on people wanting to kill themselves, but get revenge in the process.

thank you for posting a thread about this, i was going to but i decided not to.
i live in southern illinois and it freaks the shit out of me, tbh. I have alot of friends that go there and i about broke down when i heard about it, but thank god they are okay, i just wish people would wake up and realize they dont have to take their problems out on other people and take their life..

Yes, social exclusion does sound like a terrible thing. However, why does the responsibility fall on other students to take said student in? Why does the kid not have to make a valid attempt to make friends and the like?

 

Gun controll and school security isn't the problem. If someone really wants to fuck up a lot of people they can. As some people have said, the problem, is kids now days are assholes. They single out a kid who is different and unrelentinly torment him/her. Kid decides it's to much, then you have a problem.

 

I live like.. really close to NIU.. And the stupid thing about it, and this makes me sick, is that the SHOOTER is getting famous from it. All anyone talks about is the the shooter, but what about the kids that were killed?
