I'm gettin me a Wii this summer! -Opinions

Yep, my brother and I are teaming up to buy a Wii this summer and some games. What do you think about it?(not that I'm getting one, but your opinions on the system)

Games I'm planning to buy when I first get it:
1. Super smash bros Brawl
2. Guitar hero III

These are the Uber cool features:
- Internet Channel (Basically surfing the Internet on the Wii console)
- The News
- The Weather
- Virtual Console - Did you know that you could play the Nes, Snes, N64, AND gamecube games on this?!
- Music/Pictures
- You can use the Nintendo Gamecube controller and memory card on this? No need for me to worry too much on controllers and memory

I have heard stuff about the ps3 and xbox360, and frankly, I think that the Wii owns both systems.

Think about it, is there an actual difference between the Ps3 and the Ps2 besides graphics and Blu ray? It's basically an upgrade for the Ps2..

For the xbox360, I haven't done too much research on it, but my friend owns it. But for now, it's just an upgrade for the regular Xbox?

The Wii is a whole different thing, and is very creative.

These are the charts for the systems itself:

Wii consoles sold as of now: -20 Mil
Ps3 Units sold as of now: ----10 Mil
Xbox 360 Units sold as of now-17 Mil

Alright this is good, the games to buy are "super mario galaxy (i have) resident evil 4 or umbrella chronicels (very scary almost wet myself). The Wii channel is cool but you need wii points. Online play you cant talk to people.

 

I haven't played the wii yet, but it looks like most of the games are for younger kids and graphics don't seem to be as good as the other 2 consoles.

It does look kinda fun to play though.

 

Buy WII Tenis !!

Its like the only good game since all of the games phail because of the remote.

 

yeh i agree the wii is cool although i own the xbox 360 but id think i wud rather hav the wii cuz it lloks more fun so gl with it m8

 

The Wii is shit in my opinion. Ugly, so last-gen graphics, the controllers hurt my wrists, the motion sensoring is poorly implented, you should see how smooth SixAxis is with the PS3, you have to pay for online play, and you can't even communicate online! How relaxed back would you be if you were tired and sore then and wanted a break by lying back and playing video games?

 

I'm not too much into graphics. As long as their decent, I'll only worry about games.

It's only one time that you have to pay, and have you seen how much it would total to? Less than $10... They probably didn't input the online communication because of the problems that occurred with the Xbox live; Racist comments, etc.

 

There's much less racism on PlayStation Network and online play would lack cooperation without a way to communicate.

 

How old are u? and hwo serous are you into video games? because the wii can be fun for shot periods of time playing but can get old veryfast. If you are a tradtional gamer. i see you have an xbox correct? then you shopuld really invest in an ps3 or an xbox 360. I personaly have 2 ps3's which i bought for 175$ ea(my uncle works for sony in the refurbishment department)
and i am astounded by teh graphics quality and teh over all quality fo teh machine it self. The wii has its purpose, for young children and elderly people who value mario party fags and bowling over graphics,soudn and hardcore fps shooter games. Did you know that as of today netflix will only stock blue ray disks and not hddvd disks? ps3 are mulitimedia machines and can replace your home theatre and your dvd player. honestly the wii has its pro's and con's but really you ahve to ask yourself, how long do you want to play amrio party? before you wnat to play a racing game, a shooter or a sports game where you dont have to stand up and swing your controller every pitch. I play video games to relax not to pretend im getting exercise.

 

I got one and I really liked it. But then I'm not really into hardcore console gaming so quite possibly prefer it cause it isn't aimed at that market.

 

I have a Gamecube..

But the overall price is too fucking expensive...

Nintendo doesn't only sell Mario games. They sell Guitar hero 3, Soul Calibur Legends, Ghost Squad, Resident evil, Metal of Honor, etc. Don't come to my thread if you think you can outsmart a company without any evidence.

Agreed, and what Infernal Dave said about immature people on XBL, there's always going to be immature people in a community, you can't do anything about it. Graphics might not be the most important thing, but they definitely do matter, the Wii's graphics are even worse then the first Xbox. The games on the Wii are bad to, almost all the crap is Mario or something else that sucks. Nintendo also thinks everyone is a murderer or something, and have some stupid friend code crap. Xbox Live is a much better multiplayer experience, and gets a lot funner with the fact that you can get achievements in games. The 360 is only 30 dollars more then the Wii and over 3x better in graphics. The motion sensor on the Wii may seem cool at first, but in most games you'll see that it only seems that they tried to put it in to put it in, and it doesn't add much innovation. It also makes things horribly inaccurate when trying to play an FPS on the Wii, which there aren't even many of.

 

I say, don't get the Wii, you will get tired of it fast, get Xbox 360 & Xbl, you won't regret it. I have it now and it's my favorite console that I've ever had.

 

Ya the 360 is really a lot better then it seems. It gets really fun espsecially after you have a lot of freinds added. I regretted buying the Wii after the first two weeks I had it.

Let me be absolutely clear with EVERYONE here who does not like the Wii:

NOBODY CARES whether or not you think he should buy an Xbox or not. He is buying or has bought a Wii, and for once there is a console that has unique gameplay (in terms of controlling, and game-based play indefinitely) and does not sell on the hype of graphics.

He asked for opinions on the Wii itself, not a fucking lecture on how he should have bought Xbox.

1337_byte: Contradictory statement is contradictory. You say graphics do not matter, and then you say they are worse than the first xbox. Yes, graphics do matter, but not on a large scale considering "smaller" consoles such as the Wii. The most the Wii needs in terms of graphics is very small, due to it not requiring much AT ALL to be played. Not everything people buy needs to be based on graphics.

Anyway, if you're gonna bash him for buying a Wii, I'll sink to your level and bash you for buying an xbox:
Get a fucking x86 PC if you wish to play immersive games. Problem solved.

 

I like my 360, it's just great if your in to fps or other xbox games.
Online chat is a great aspect, playing a game without talking can get really boring (I didn't have a mic my first week of xbox when all my other friends did).

The xbox live arcade is great also, I especially love the mortal kombat game

Just other settings in general and the way you browse and interact with the 360 I find is good, also the personalized settings and such are all great.

I guess its just a matter of opinion.
And I've never really liked anything Nintendo released past the n64. Don't get me wrong though Super Mario Bros 1-3 and Goldeney007 are possibly the best games in their genre if not ever made so the nintendo has been great in ze past, but I just don't like their new consoles and controllers but if you do then thats probably the console for you.

The Wii is ok, though I don't recon it's any good for single player games. The PS3 and xbox 360 are the best for solo games (halo 3 =P), and I just find it awkward playing tennis or other games by yourself ... I got bored of my Wii fairly fast, only played it a few times. I have played my PS3 way more often, and I play the xbox for the ultimate games like halo 3 and gta.
