46 Main Bans and 4 years later - Finally Done - Stats!

Welp this is a conclusion to my sites renting mains & stuff.

~46 mains banned in the last 4 years, Roughly $15,000.

I purchased 15 max mains off @Rswap 4 months ago - Today the last one bit the dust.

I lost ~8 max mains in the period of 2 weeks(between Christmas- Now) - Bans are expected and we turned a profit on each one but its no longer worth stressing about and making my agents do the extra work, even at $8/hour we were barely turning profit.

By my notepads data I can see I lost roughly ~30 mains in 3 years(15-16-17, I don't have data for 14) so approx 1 every 1.2 months or so which is expected, however the uptrend of Jagex hammering mains and rwting just doesn't make the rental industry profitable anymore. 15 mains were lost in the past 4 months which is an average of ~45 a year which is a 300% increase in ban waves & bans.

No it was not just bad luck - I can see back almost 4 years and have the data to support it - The duel arena is just becoming more and more dangerous to use - I'm convinced stake trading is worse than standard trading aswell now - Jagex publicly acknowledged they are actively watching stakers and that alone says it all.

Fun Facts: While I cannot release exact stats for everyone I can give u a general idea:

During my time of renting:

-Our mains were rented 10,000+ times.
- Approx 1,000,000,000,000(1T)(250b a year) 07 gold was staked using our max mains(I estimated 100m per rental on avg).
- Over 10,000 password reset emails were received and passwords changed over 4 years(to give u an idea of how much work it was for workers to change passwords)
-150 Bonds were consumed to keep the mains members
-500+ tent whips & whips used & replaced when stolen/dropped off the mains
-Rank 1 on google achieved for most renting keywords
-An Average of 6.84 rentals were done every single day for 4 years straight(365 x 4=1460, 10,000 rentals/1460 days=6.84)
-Over 33% of bans occurred in Q4 2017 and the very start of Q1 2018 - Just demonstrating how harsh bans have become.
- I'm proud to say we NEVER had a scam report for renting - We were the oldest renters in the industry and the most trusted by far - Not once in 4 years did I ever have a renting related scam report.


I'm out now, I wouldn't advise anyone to rent their mains - I've got 4 years of data to prove you'll barely break even in the long-term, you might make $1000 and then get chained - 4 years of proof shows u will NOT make much and for the effort & stress - It's ultimately not worth it.

For those who used our mains and stuff to RWT - That was your choice ultimately - It was expected(I know how it works) - Unfournately we warned people that if bans became excessive we wont rent anymore so now people can go rent off the randoms and pray they don't get scammed all their gold. I would expect rental prices to soon go to $10/hr because frankly $8 barely turns any profit at all, anything under $8 I'm 100% certain doesn't, $10 might turn just enough to make it manageable but with the duel arena changes coming renting will be dead soon anyway.

oh, for the record I've been contacted by people asking me if I really made $20,000 a year off renting max mains - the answer is no, people did the math of 10,000 rentals x our current prices of $8 and got $80,000-$15,000 in main costs=$65,000 - bond costs, worker upkeep etc brought it down to $60,000 so $15-$20k profit a year.

The above is NOT true - What people aren't calculating is that for 14-15-16 & 3/4 of 2017 mains were only $2-$3/hour(back when renting was like 1 ban every 1.2 months and it was sustainable there), I turned a couple grand in profit off rentals but again I had to do all the SEO work to rank in the top for google, stress about them everyday, worry about a worker scamquiting, so on.

Like I said, I turned some profit but if ur smart and do the math:

Say an average of $4/rental over the 3 years:

4 x 6.8 rentals/day=$27.20 a day x 365 is $9928
$9928 x 3 years=$29,784 - $15,000 in bans = $14,784

I estimate roughly 1 hours work per 20 password resets so 10,000/20 pw resets= 500 hours of labor x say $5/hr on average over the years comes out to $2,500

$14,784- $2,500 in labor = $12,284 in 3 years

say we take 500 whips & tents @ 2m each=$1000
140 bonds = $450 roughly

=$1450

$12,284-$1450=$10,834 over 3 years

$10,834/3=$3461 a year in profit NOT COUNTING the expense of my time or the SEO work.

People were freaking out thinking this was some insanely profitable industry but didn't account for past prices.


Keep in mind this is data with us being the #1 renter and rank 1 on google - Individuals and others cannot sustain the above numbers which would 100% turn them unprofitable and with bans picking up so much $3400 a year is not a sustainable margin.

& here I feel like people thought I joined random industry's for fun :thinking:

Rental industry will be dead soon and deserves to be - its not profitable

Damn...I actually had zero idea jagex was cracking down on rental services. This is nuts. Thanks for the heads up!

 

It's not just rentals its the RWT/Duel scene as a whole.

 

Every time I read your threads, I come to see what the topic states, and end up in an hour long class maths session with you.

I see you have done a lot of work in this area of RS. It is sad to see when someone has worked so hard and for so long to come to an end. As for all companies, there is a time when it is time to close up shop. I had no idea the profit to loss ratio was anything like what you said in this post. Neither did I know they were cracking down on renting and or RWT.

 

Always thought $8 to rent a main for an hour was absurd and that you were making bank off this.

You don't need proof but perhaps you forgot and I'll jog your memory. You know Edward scammed multiple people off max mains. Here's 1 report I found in 5minutes because all the titles have been changed cbf looking for more but there certainly were a few reports regarding max mains when I worked for you lol.
