    Trillian Vs. Pidgin

Trillian 1.3.9 runs unstable on my box.

Pidgin seems to be a great alternative, it's the successor to GAIM which is a pretty popular client mainly used on linux boxes. It's also lightweight and uses minimal system resources.

    Trillian 3.1: http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/

    Pidgin: http://www.pidgin.im/

Mmm.. discuss your personal opinions please.

I feel like a loser saying this but I like just using the default messengers that each service provides. I use AIM for personal and MSN for forums etc.

I've used trillian and it runs unstable for me too.

A friend recommended Pidgin but it didn't even install when I tried. I guess I'll try again since it's at a later release.

PIdgin. The user interface is easy on the eyes, and has many great plug-ins. Although it doesn't support themes, would you actually need that?

    Try out pidgin for yourself.

I have a feeling that either wtp is not an actual person, or doesn't read before posting...

I don't understand why you would use an online client when the best ones are desktop applications. Online applications are generally inferior in most regards, except portability, and even then, there are portable app versions of pidgin/gaim.
