[SRC speech ]Pointers appretiated.

I am running for SRC ( student representative council ).
I have to give a 1 - 2 minute speech as to why I should be elected to be in the SRC to my grade and the important teachers.

From what I understand the speech is a casual thing.
I.e
Don't have to start off with.
"Good morning / evening ladies and gentlemen."
Something like.
" G'day guys how ya going? "
Would be appropriate

The speech is a 'vote for me' speech

I will later edit in what I plan to say.
Tips, pointers, snippets, suggestions anything would be appreciated.
I am not asking for you to do this for me, I am seeking advice.

Tell them you will want to make school easier and more fun...

 

"Vote for me and all your wildest dreams will come true"

First off look the audience in the eyes always, give them input on what THEY the audience want, not some bull stuff you cant give them but some serious matters, like mabye cleaning up a bathroom or fixing some lockers replaceing stuff EXT. look casual and try to make the speech short sweet and to the point, school kids (like me) get bored over long speeches. And always have a positive mood while talking.

 

My friend was both an SRC Rep, and a School captain during his time at one school. All they did was waste their lunch time talking about what the students thought the school needed, and never did anything about it.

Unless theres a real reason why you want to join, I suggest against doing it if you wish to save yourself some time Unless you're extremely patriotic towards your school, which next to no-one is.

Why bore them with a long speech when you can do it with a short one.
Tell them what they want to hear.
Be confident.
Don't read the speech, talk to the audience.
