    QT, GTK+, Win32?

    Hello.

This is probably not the best place to ask, but I'm hoping someone such as SMR may be of help to me. I am looking for the best set of libraries to use for GUI creation using C++. I've been told very good things about QT3, but GTK+ also seems to be a good set of libraries. Win32 would be alright to learn for straight Windows development, however I'm an avid Linux user, so this might be a problem if I decide to use Win32.

    I need some opinions. Thankyou.

Use a crossplatform library if you wish to develop for both. I've heard good things about wxWidgets.

If you have Visual C++ 6.0 (or any later edition of Visual C++ other than Express) then you can use the MFC. I've never used GTK+ or even heard of QT before, so I don't know how well they compare.

Most of my exp is with Win32, of course.
I use GTK+ and I like it, but I haven't tried any others. So now that you mention it, I should look around to see what is best. :D

I thought you were better than that SMR! xD MFC both sucks and is strictly Windows only. QT is a set of GUI Libraries, same as GTK+ and Win32 ;)

I'll take a look around GTK+, but I won't completely force QT out of my mind. Toko from Cruels said that QT3 was good, so I'll do some investigation.

Hah, I use Linux and BSD a fair amount but as far as coding goes I'm strictly Windows-only. :p

Hmm, you might want to try wxWidgets; I heard Bitcomet was made using C++ and wxWidgets.

WxWidgets are very good also. Out of those, I would choose Win32.

Did you read the part that suggests I use Linux a lot?

I think QT4 is supposed to be very easy to develop for and cross platform unlike QT3.

I've never used it myself though, I have used GTKmm (c++ wrapper for GTK+).
