A colorful announcement

Hey all. It’s been a while since I’ve been active on these forums, but as I’m currently working full time and finishing up my degree, I had to focus on life. Months ago (summer, by now) I laid out the majority of the code for what I planned to turn into a color bot suite. With a few days off this past week, the project is nearing the phase where I would like to begin testing scripts and try a few implementations. If you guys have any ideas you would like to see (besides the obvious sand crab ect ect) comment them below or feel free to pm me. Am very excited to bring this to our community!

Obviously there will be those who feel comfortable using the bot clients that already exist. This is for those who plan to play on osbuddy or the similar. Providing an easy way to bot on top of a client of your choosing is the appeal.

I'm more interested of the technical part of the bot as I don't bot myself.
How does it work? Any interesting aspects to bring out?

 

Hahaha that’s actually a loaded question. So currently the build is intended for windows, while a project I was working on WAY long ago (Linux based) used way more efficient recognition methods. Since this is the first RuneScape related project I’ve worked on that doesn’t simply memorize coordinates or repeat a simple task over and over again I’m still learning as I go. The basic idea is that prior to running, you create a color pallete with a tool similar to an eye dropper in photoshop. The program then memorizes these colors and those similar as ones of interest. I have been playing around with a few basic scripts right now mostly ranged based since safespotting is easy, and the real trouble comes in distinguishing an npc from the surrounding area. I’m still working out a reliable method of error detection for this (and have made ENORMOUS progress) since the initial revision. I find it funny because I remember years back as a kid trying to use a bot that happened to be color based, and it seems like at this point a solid color bot is the least detectable option. I think applications of this go far beyond hard coding coordinates because in a case like that you’re essentially betting that the bot won’t make a mistake. While you can program it that way, one mis click could break a script whereas a bot that interacts with objects by color etc has the ability to adapt.

Have been running trials at various locations. Error detection is improving but not perfect. Nothing that I would feel comfortable releasing for use, but getting there
