I got the "Red Ring of Death"

i borrowed my friends xbox 360 and i got it like the thrid day i had it all i did was take out the hard drive dissconect everything then put the hdd back in and plugged the cords in and it fixed it =]

 

lol. TBH I dont think anyone on sythe gives a flying fuck. You think your little ring of death problem is big. Im currently going through a lawsuit with them.

I has a PS3, i don't know why though, the PS2 seemed fine after replacing the disk tray lid and on button.

 

mine had 1 red light.. then i turned it off n it was fine ^^

 

Sorry it broke.. but turning it off and on like that cannot be good for it either.

 

Yeah I think I fried my mother board and now I am getting it replaced for free. Just a tip, do not leave it on overnight because it will over heat and fry the mother board.

 

As long as it has room to breathe It shouldn't matter how long you leave it on.

In the past I've left mine on over night when i fall asleep watching a movie.

 

I've got the same problem, only mine isn't fixed... Can someone please give me the number I have to call or whatever to get it fixed? I live in australia...

true i left my friends on for the whole time i borrowed it and it was fine plus he had the fan attachment thing that goes on the back so it keeps it cool..

Just keep the warranty on it renewed, and you'll never have to worry about paying for a new Xbox, .

 

It probably overheated, and caused permanent damage. There is no way for your firmware to crash, without you modifying/hacking anything on it.

I just installed custom firmware on my 360 dvd drive, so I can play backup games. Works great.

Dude shit sucks. I'm lucky having a new aged one so all these problems don't seem to happen to me. tl;dr but try and do the cloth trick, fixed my friends.

 

This is why I stick with ps2.

 

The ones there making now that were manufactured after september 2007 are not as faulty as the old ones...although the red ring of death could still happen.

 

3 lights is main system failure, 4 lights is damaged wiring, so i would suggest buying a cooling system ( i have 2 and have had no problems with my 360) i would also suggest unplugging everything and letting it sit a while this can let it cool down i guess (i do this to my computor once a month) also you can try to dust the inside (most computors and such have problems cooling the xbox when it is covored with dust, also try to stand it up so that all of the vents are uncovered. covering vents blocks the fans from working at their best.
