This rule, I don't get. Why is having multiple accounts in a forum ever legal? Don't registrations on any website usually cap the user to account ratio to one? Wouldn't you need a different email to register a different nick?

What is the point of having multiple accounts without the intention to scam? One can make three accounts, gain respect, and use them three to scam at a certain time. Only the moderators would of known they were the same users.

The possibilities of risks are endless. I don't see why anybody would need more than one account, other to have a different nickname. Though it would make sense if one was to make an account to appeal a ban, which is currently illegal. This system makes no sense.

The rule is pointless. We cannot ban a member for forgetting their password and having to create a new account, or for having a sibling who also uses the site. Some people create new nicks simply when they get bored of their old account name.

There are certainly valid reasons for having more than one account. If they look suspicious, they can still get a TWC, and if they really are doing anything wrong, they can as easily be caught breaking another rule.

If a member forgets their password, they should recover it using email, or contact an admin and provide proof of ownership. Having siblings using a new nick should only be an exception if the fact is made public. Should a user be able to get a nick change rather than creating a new account? I think that would be more reasonable. I'm sure many scammers would or have been taking advantage of this rule.

    My thought.

The recovery system here is pretty obscure. You cannot request a password simply by attempting an invalid login. Rather, you have to try posting in a forum that, as a guest, you don't have permissions in; there's a link in the bottom corner of the message where you can recover a pass. I've had to explain this to an ex-admin. It's not intuitive.

Moreover, many users create email addresses specific to Sythe, or enter a fake one intending not to need it. Thus, it's not uncommon for users to be unable to recover.

Unfortunately, admins aren't exactly easy for normal members to reach, and if they do make themselves available, they usually won't have the time (or will) to verify account ownerships. As is, normal users are not allowed to request name changes.

Finally, even if you did require everyone to make their siblings public, can you then ban users who claim they were unaware of the rule? Or who claim not to know their sibling used the site?

Even ex-staff have created alternate personas on the site. I doubt they've done it to scam; though, their reasons are really anyone's guess.

    My thought.

So having a sibling using sythe as well as you with the same ip address is NOT banable?
