That game was ridiculously hard when I was a kid, I remember getting to like 29 stars and being at a complete dead-end in the game. There are certain levels where you just find yourself attempting to scale the same wall for 3 hours to no avail. Thats badass that they're giving a grand for this comp though

I second this. The time/luck you need to spend in order to get the reward doesn't sound worth it IMO.

as a scripter, is is possible to make a bot that can constantly perform the moves needed in various locations. and if so, is it possible to use a script to find this glitch?

 

I know how to code Java,

afaik you can't use a ported version of this game either, it has to be on console, which the inputs are analog with the controller.

You'd have to design a robot to do it, it could do it, but it'd be more expensive than the 1000 prize.
