I play drums, i have been playing for over four years and i can tell you that REAL emo among jazz, ska and death/grind are the hardest to accomplish. you have no idea about drums, so dont even fucking try. the drum track of a funeral diner or yaphet kotto song alone covers more beats than lars ulrich does in the entire "enter the sandman" album. if you actually sat down and listened to a band that im talking about you would understand the complexity of drumming, im not even going to try and convince you though.

Funeral Diner doesnt play fast, you obviously havnt covered their material to a large scale, chamlion is a weak song, i admit that, listen to the underdark. you have no idea what your talking about, seriously, like... i can fucking assure you that funeral diner has more skill than alot of bands, you just dont know it. I have had my share of listening to metallica etc, so its fair for me to decide whether or not funeral diner has potential, not you.

I have been playing drums for four years, bass for six, i have a pearl vision kit, i play my ride abnormal compared to others, my kit consists of four crashs, one china, a ride, and a high hat. i use a five piece kit, and i know for a fact lars ulrich is nothing compared to the two bands im talking about.

Are you a fucking idiot? I am in a very well known band around the michigan area in the us (mainly lower michigan) named northern winter, I have been playing the guitar for 11 years, so unless i started when i was 3 thats kinda hard, and im 18 years old,

I have heard any band who is even somewhat famous or talented and tons who havent, In my time of collecting over 150 gb of music I am sure that I would have heard them if they were any good.

I listened to the song, it is better than that chamillion song , but still nothing special in it. children of bodom's drummer Jaska Raatikainen even dominates them (which is there weakest link) and talking about not giving a band a chance to listen to them? you said janne warman isn't good or w\e in a previous post, if you knew anything you would know he is one of if not THE BEST keyboard player around. and with arch enemy, daniel erlandsson kicks the living shit out of that band and makes them drop to there knee's if you were to compare them, and the ammot brothers dominate both bands guitar wise, so just face it.

 

What has your band released so far?

i brought up metallica because you seemed like the kind of person with that mentality, i automatically assume everyone on this site is a metallica/korn fan, therefore i bring it up, lol.

Yaphet kotto isnt known in the mainstream because

A. they are against the mainstream media

B. They only release their music over vinyl, so you wont find them at music world....

C. Because REAL screamo isnt found on mtv, yaphet kotto are one of the biggest bands of its genre, but you cant find them on tv, just like black metal for instance, you can't fuckin find mayhem or ministry on mtv, but if you are a big fan and have knowledge of its criteria than you will know where to look.

I'll say it again and again, if you were a drummer you would understand and appreciate the drumming contained in bands like yaphet kotto and funeral diner. its unique to anything else, the rythym and beats are totally unique to anything else, they take a little bit of everything and mix it up, not just straight blast beats, repetitive punk rock beats, or plain and old double kick techniques and overused crash methods like children of bodom.

i dont know how you got into talk about the keyboardist, keyboards have nothing to do with the genre im talking about, and to be honest i think any band that has a keyboard player is pretty lame... unless its used for a specific effect like such bands as burzum.

 

He is actually right. If you listen to any Streetlight Manifesto, you will see how hard the drums are to play in their songs. It's a lot of work.

 

I do happen to like metallica (was my favorite band until i heard mushroomhead when they first came out) korn on the other hand has some good songs but suck in a total package sense.

1. yaphet kotto are against mainstream yet, all i had to do is look in my usual place for music and found them?

2.It dont matter what they release there music on, I can still find it without a problem (unless they have not released anything)

4. We as a band do not have a myspace because none of us has time to really be active with it and give it the attention it needs, as for the link just copy and paste it to a new explorer, and if you want to hear our whole band play tell me a site where i can upload mp3 music files and I'll do it.

I am a drummer and have been for almost as long as you, my bands drummer is the one who taught me how to play. and how can you say that, please as i said before state a song that actually shows off some of there drumming skills I'd love to see it, because so far its just a repetitive beat played fairly fast that isn't anything fancy. (also children of bodom are unique just as you say yaphet kotto and funeral diner are although I don't think they really are, you will not find another band that sounds like children of bodom anywhere. and are not known for there druming talents (although they are better in my opinion then the bands you stated)they are known for there godly guitarists and keyboarding)

I got talking about keyboards because you put them down earlier (by basically calling janne a joke when he is the best or in the top 3 of the world) and im not sure how exactly you figure having someone on keyboards in a band is lame i guess its just a aspect and talent you cant understand nor have.

 

Where do you usually look for music? if you mean limewire, or a downloading client then obviously they will be there, when i say mainstream, i mean bands making appearances on telivision, and selling their album to any label that asks for it.

IT DOES MATTER if your music is on vinyl or not, bands who release music on cd have an easier way of showing off their music to people, and it leaves more options, putting out a demo over a 7" record isnt the best way to go if you want to make it big.


Screamo, Emo, Emoviolence, post-rock etc are all a form or sub-genre of emotive hardcore.... its basically the "metal" of sludge, doom, black, death etc....
