"23 Minutes in Hell" + My Life

After reading countless threads about why Christianity is wrong I decided to share what I believe.

I have been a Christian for about 9 years and I can honestly say I would never go back and change my mind. Also many people say I am closed minded for believing this. I am not closed minded at all. I have no doubt about my faith. Through the years (and before I became a Christian) I would break nearly every rule and sin all the time. It is so easy to be a non-Christian. People say Christianity is the easy route but it's not because when you've been through both Christian and non-Christian you can usually tell which is easier. I live each day with out swearing, lies (well I try), not stealing, no porn (lol), and murder (definite hardest... joke). On top of this, going to a public school (even though mines private now) you have to keep your faith even when people bring you down and try to make you an outcast for what you believe, it is much harder. How much easier it is to just go by your own rules? steal what you want, lie if it doesn't hurt people, check out the naked people (lol again), swear and be mean all you want.

I still don't understand a lot of things about Christianity and I am no expert, but still I'm trying, and hope you will see what your missing out on. What can people gain by living there lives, growing up, getting, a job, married, house, death. All for nothing? Living for Jesus gives me a reason to live and if God didn't give me what I have now I doubt I would want to live/be alive.

I recently read a book called "23 Minutes in Hell" and it really made me think about people at sythe and my friends at school. It is about a man who is taken to hell by God to open his eyes. Whether or not you believe this story, it is a great book that made me realize what will happen to many people in my life, as well as people on sythe.

When I got this book I didn't know what to believe or whether I cared. I just needed to know more about hell. That one chapter probably won't make you understand much, and I would love you to read the whole thing. The book made me realize the time we all have left in this life. We are only going to live for around 70-80 years more, and if you think about that in the long run, its not much, especially since most of us won't live that long in the world we're in. Anyone of us could die in the next week, month, or even year but still once you life is over, you will be judged. You may think that your all ready good enough to go to Heaven because of the good things you've done, but what about the bad things? The perfect person, who hasn't sinned in his life will be the one judging you. Do you think he will see you as good enough? The Bible tells us that nobody can get to Heaven by what man has done, but only through God himself.

Even if you'r not going to listen to me, look at what some famous people have said in their lives (google them if you need to).

George Washington - You do well to wish to learn our arts and our ways of life and above all, the religion of Jesus Christ. These will make you a greater and happier people than you are. Congress will do everything they can to assist you in this wise intention.

Knowing that when you die, the above will happen, and will happen for eternity makes me sad knowing that people I know will go through this. Once your in there you can't get out. So this may be the only chance you get to come to God. I am posting this because I don't want to see this happen to anyone. I wouldn't want my enemies to go through this.

A little fact: There are more than 24,000 manuscript copies of portions of the New Testament in existance today. No other document of antiquity even begins to approach this. Coming in second place is the Iliad by Homer with only 643 manuscripts that still survive. God said himself "...my words will by no means pass away" Mark 13:31 and that is why it is still here today.

I realize most people that read this probably won't read it all, but if you did, well done and I hope you get something out of this. If you would like to know more, just go to a local Church (I go to a pentecostal Church) and try to learn more.

The Bible says that the only way to Heaven is to realize that you are a sinner, repent and ask for forgiveness (repent basically means to stop) and ask Jesus to come into your life. By doing this, when you die you will go to Heaven to be with Jesus and every other follower for eternity.

Religion teaches peace, the only reason there are religious wars is because people take it the wrong way. Besides just because you don't believe in relgion doesn't mean all of it's wrong. You may think you live a better life because you don't believe in religion, but religion helps many people in many ways so it's your loss, not ours.

What you have said is true, I myself don't live a perfect life, I sin allot..
More than most christians , at the end of the day, I repent and i Know i'm saved through christ Jesus.

First off.

Religion has caused more problems in the world from day one. Does more bad then good

Gods not very good if he is going to send us to hell for not believing in him. What has he done for me? Absolutely nothing. I can pray all I want it doesn't do anything. I pray for other peoples well being and my own and get nothing. Infact I did believe in God untill a few months ago. My life was starting to screw up, I started praying regularly, doing good, what happened? My life got even more fucked up. Maybe the day God speaks to me I will believe, but untill then how can I when he has done nothing to show he exsists. If there was a God my friend, little kids wouldn't be starving to death everday, little kids who havn't even experienced life wouldn't be dieing.

Im sorry this is how I feel. I respect with what you believe and hope you do the same. I honestly hope there is a God, and I hope that he is understanding to me, I have been a good kid my entire life, now my life sucks, what do you expect me to think? I need more then a few fairy tales to believe. If god made us, he gave us the ability to think and choose, this is what I choose based on the facts ive seen, my fault or gods fault for giving me the ability to think and choose?

BTW, the constant attacks on Christianity by most of society just helps to prove that there is an evil power working to drive people away from God, imho.

Not an evil power. Facts of life. I would say within our lifetime or the next we will know if there is a god or not. I know it doesn't say word for word ,god sends us to hell if we don't believe. Yet if we have sinned we have to ask for forgiveness so basicly yeah we do have to believe. I see nothing to believe? All I see is a book called the bible filled with magical events? Therefore I can ask for forgiveness all I want I just don't think it does anything. God created a world but doesn't seem to like to pay attention to his creations?

Indeed you're right. We'll all know for sure one day whether God exists or not. I sure hope you're on the right side when that happens, though.

By the way, what do you mean "what has God done for me?". For one, He created you. Two, he loved you EVEN AFTER YOU REJECTED HIM. Three, He DIED to save you. The same is true for all mankind. And what have we done in return? Every day we go against what He says. We reject Him. We disobey Him.

Sounds like God has done one hell of a lot for all of us.

to the guy who said 18% of the bible been proven. Ok? Thats not very good? And no its said jesus body was put in some place and when they went back to do w/e with him he was gone. They already have known where...They have the blanket thing or w/e that supposbly covered him.

When and if the day comes to prove god is real I am with him, untill then you can't judge me for basing my opinions on facts. Nor can god.

2) No-one said being a Christian was easy. In fact, the Bible says the exact opposite.
3) Jesus did indeed die. And Jesus is God.

 

Lets say, He hasn't helped you because you have rejected him.
