Mac vs PC

Now I cannot deny Apple makes a good product, but i dont like how they 1. are control freaks 2. are rediculously expensive and 3. Their commercials. I think they are extremely ingenious i mean time machine? thats genious! but is it really worth it for the price? if you like the leopard OS then cant you buy a pc and install leopard on it? so baisically you could buy http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/HP-P...99872/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do this laptop, which is cheaper and arguably better than a normal macbook, macbook has higher processor speed but less ram, and hard drive,but install leopard on it for 120$ and still keep less than a macbook?

 

Windows is shite but we all still use it. Mac's are quite expensive and its another OS to learn.

I agree with all the Mac suck posts. And I'm not some blind ignorant fool who's never used a Mac before, I can honestly say that I don't like them and be right about it.

 

I have to agree that Macs suck as well. Thats all we have to use at school too. Only the teachers get desktops with Windows. =\

 

Phail, theres no way in hell it beat out WoW or windows media player for porn. Windows for life. Apple OS's suck, Some of the pc's look cool though. Their commercials can suck me off too. I think the windows guy pwns anyways.

Ignorance FTW?
1. Windows Crashes more than Mac OS X by a lot (I run leopard on a 2.0 Core 2 Duo with 3GB of RAM and it's nvr crashed yet) and both my Windows machines consistently run into problems
2. The hockey puck mouse was done away with a long time ago. The new Might Mouse is much more innovative than most PC mouses
3. The light on the back doesn't use any energy as it is just a transparent part of the screen and it uses the same light as the backlighting.
4. you're gay
5. Photoshop CS3 runs much better on a Mac then it does a PC.
6. The hardware and software (especially the OS) on a Mac looks much nicer and is far more integrated (albeit, at the cost of some freedom), then anything Microsoft has ever produced.

For all of you who say Quicktime sucks, it's cause you guys probably use it on Windows... and I'll admit that it does suck. But on OS X Quicktime runes perfectly.

@wtp: Windows is the ugliest modern OS out there and Linux... well the effects are much too superflous (in most cases with Compiz Fusion) and are not integrated as well as OS X Leopard's.

Macs put looking cool as there first priority. They dont have mouses or keyboards that are ergonomically designed. Im sure your lepord cost 2k+ while you can buy the equivelent PC for 1k-. Macs dont crash because they cant do anything. That light is useless.

Linux looks 10 times cooler than Mac.

Umm.. you can use pretty much any PC keyboard and mouse with a mac.

Macs can run Final Cut Studio 2, whereas PC's cannot.

Ummm not really, I've used Compiz Fusion and Awn-Dock... They are barely integrated in the OS, and get most of their more popular effects from both OS X and Vista.

 

mac = good for media
xp = good for gaming
linux = good for programming
i still havent decided.

Well, that's your fault. If you can't use Windows without causing it to crash then you're either using a bad hardware configuration, or you're too thick to be anywhere near a computer at all.

Innovative? Brother, all a mouse is supposed to do is click and scroll. I'm happy with a normal mouse that looks like a household tool, not some remnant of the 60s.

Okay, if you're into photo editing/GFX, which most people are not..

Integrated? In what sense? I have no trouble with any of my Windows software and write quite a bit myself (VC++ 6/.NET) and it 'integrates' with the stack/kernel/everything else just fine.

I think that also stands as a testament against the Mac users who have been brainwashed enough to actually believe that OSX is actually completely immune to viruses (rofl). There are several other examples of Mac vulnerabilities out there, ask me to see more.

ROFL. If you're interested in how "ugly" an OS is, then go ahead with the form over function ideal and use a Mac. And again with the integration, it is mindnumbingly simple to use Win32 APIs to communicate with the Windows internals, and seeing how the Mac is a UNIX machine with Apple's "innovations" (i use the word loosely here) strapped to it, I can't imagine it'd be any easier on a Mac.

And also look at this. Apple has a flagship server operating system (Mac OS X Server), yet you don't see them using to run their own site. What does that tell you?

Elitism ftl. Macs are good for design and stability. Also, a good family computer for people that haven't used a PC.

PC's are good for testing certain stuff, websites and whatever, are cheap, but less reliable. But they can make use of a variety of different applications that run natively on Windows.

Linux is for students.

This debate is old. It's all about preference.

 

Face it, the average user will see computer crashes. That why the Geed Squad exists.

But then you need to go into how the mouse clicks and scrolls. The mighty mouse has 360 degree scrolling as well as touch right/left clicks. Also you can pretty much use any PC USB mouse/keyboard with a Mac

We are talking about a different type of integration. By integration I mean that whenever you do something in one application such as the address book, it affects other programs such as the calendar, chat program, and mail program--and come installed with the OS.

I never said OS X was immune to viruses -___-. And when I said quicktime sucked on windows i wasn't talking about vulnerabilities whatsoever. I was just talking in terms of speed and performance.
