Warning Semi-Intelligent Scam Going Around

I just thought that it would be a good idea to warn everyone of a scam that some people are attempting to perform.

They've tried this one me and two other people that i know of so far, I'll explain what actually happens during the scam.

What happens is two people will add you asking if you can mm for them, they will be pretending to make out that one of the people is wanted to buy something downloadable from the other.

The person selling this downloadable item will say that you have to download this item and prove that it is virus free to the buyer. This is where the scam actually comes into place, Do Not Downloa This Item. First ask them to prove that they are trusted people, E.G. by sending you a pm from there account on here (sythe) or somewhere else. If the pm is from someone that is not trusted and/or is new, dont bother with downloading this item.

Instead just block them and you may also want to report them and there msn's so that they are less likely to scam other people easily.

The offer they will make for you downloading this and proving that it is legit(which it most probably wouldnt be) they will say the price is high but you must download it first, this is where that reaction comes in known as ''Fear Of Loss'' you will want to get that money by downloading that item but for your own safety do not do this unless you have logical proof that these people are trusted and are not scammers.

Always be cautious when downloading things from strangers, and if your not sure that there trusted dont run the risk.

You should just say that you downloaded it and it's clean.

Good heads up... maybe good to be put in community gen? Not sure... if one of the mods that frequesnt here think it is they'll move it.

This is just common sense, But well done for telling people that arent sure of these things. Good virus protection goes a long way
