    Changing Video Formats

    EDIT: Question has been answered. Thanks to those who helped!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Now, I have looked for a thread or sticky addressing what I need, and I've tried to Google it on my own too, but I can't see to find what I need.
    I recently downloaded a few videos from DVD (and one from Limewire) onto my computer. All of them are in .avi format and play just find in windows media player on my computer. Now, I'm wanting to put the videos onto my iPod (an iPod Classic) but it doesn't support videos in .avi format. I've tried downloading countless programs from Google, but none work. Does anyone have or know of a program that could covert the files to an iPod acceptable format? The smallest one (the one from Limewire) is a pretty good size (It's about an hour long, I'll can get the exact size if it makes a difference). I apologize for what may sound like computer illiteracy and/or if this was addressed elsewhere. If not, I appreciate any help that you folks could offer.
    Thanks.
    if im not mistaken ipod videos is in mp4 format
    are offered for free download but cant use the full potential of the program
    or on limited time only. u either buy the program or get a serial key <--illegal
    Correct. The size of the smallest video (the limewire one) 354,674KB. I already tried googling ".avi to ipod", ".avi to mp4", and similar searches. They came up with mostly the same top results, I tried all the programs on the first 2 pages and they either didn't work or had a virus. I'm hoping someone can reccomend one (Preferably free, but I'm fine with purchasing too) or has another means of converting it. Thanks for the info about size limits thought. :)
