    Phantom itching!

I had my toe operated on under a local anesthetic, and it's still 100% numb. Yet, it's itching! Help!

Seriously, this is extremely annoying. Amputees frequently complain of this. If their arm is cut off, they may experience pain where there arm would be. They can't do anything about it, which is quite frustrating.

    Discuss, etc.

    ...

I'm not sure if you understand or not. I can scratch it all right, but it's not helping. I shouldn't be able to feel anything, but I can. It feels like my toe was amputated, so my body is generating a "phantom itch".

I think he meant getting amputated, then having the itch happens, and it comes with life. Something along those lines.

Anyway having that itch must suck. >_<

It is in your mind, stop scratching it and do something to get your mind off your toe. Do anything physical: Work out, cook, jog, or something to make your mind wander away.

I'd go with cook considering he just got his toe operated on =p

But yeah, keep your mind off of it.

I'm going to butcher the spelling of this but... Hydrochortizone Cream works wonders on itches. I've had legs full of mosquito bites and the itch goes away in minutes. Pretty cheap too.

HA. No one understands that he can't feel anything on that toe. How do you stop the itching? Why would you put the cream on it?

I once heard that if you itch another part of your body you can get rid of the spot that itches in a different part.

Never thought I'd find the meaning of life in a thread talking about Shredderbeam's toe.

    What happened to your toe?

An opiate derivative painkiller such as morphine or some other derivative would work to cure it but morphine causes severe constipation.

Well, that sometimes happens when bloodfllow returns to your body parts.

eg: after being numb from cold,

maybe the anesthetic is wearing off/

That must hurt and thats how life is sometimes. I myself had an ingrown toe nail. The doctor made it numb...and then I couldn't feel anything but the pain itches like hell and it did for me for like five-eight hours.

Ah, somebody slammed the door when i went to grab it, and broke the end of my pinky finger, and it itched like crazy when I was still under anesthetic in the hospital after the doctors put it back together.
