I would enjoy trying Web codding, so possibly HTML, but I've heard that's not a good "starter".

    What did you code first?

Thanks for the offer, but you don't need to do that. But, if possible, please add me on Msn- [email protected]

I learned HTML and CSS first. I then went into Javascript for a while, then to PHP and SQL. Then, since 8th grade, I've been doing python.

Both Python and PHP are very easy, and very powerful. If you're going to do some coding for the web, I suggest you do HTML and CSS, then go to PHP. Javascript later for "prettying up" your pages.

Okay, thank you. Do you mind me asking where do you practice your HTML skills, etc? On Freewebs, notebook?

Do you use any specific programs?

Well, I just use notepad. When beginning in web design, try keeping away from WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get) editors, ones that you can drag and drop. They make things easy for you, and you won't learn anything.

However, when you get "advanced enough", Dreamweaver will be quite an asset for you.

    http://w3schools.com/html/default.asp

Possibly one of the best tutorials around.

    http://w3schools.com/html/html_examples.asp

An example for each "type" of code, with an editor ( text based :> ) so you can practice.

It is good to keep a log of what you've done, so you can always go back to check. You don't need a host, but if you would like to work away from your computer, it would work fine.

Many people advise against it, but viewing the source of sites is just fine. If you see something you like, don't hesitate to view the source and see how it's done. But remember, there's a line between learning from others, and blatantly copy and pasting.
